DCO CORNER: ANYUAK MINISTRY UPDATE

Vicar John Bakou says that worship attendance the last few weeks has been good at about 25-30. A few members of the Anyuak Committee are continuing to work on a Constitution/By-laws for their congregation. We hosted Easter here Saturday, April 4th and there were over 200 people here to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord! (See picture) They had a 4 hour worship service and a 3 hour potluck. Vicar John will finish EIIT-15 Law & Gospel this week. He has one class left in his program. The Seminary will let us know what is next, I think there is a final interview, before his ordination sometime this fall. I will share more details on the ordination as they become available. He will be the first Anyuak pastor to be ordained in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Final vicarage reports from Pastor Paul (Supervisor), myself (Mentor) and John (Vicar) have been completed and submitted to Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. On May 10th a Mother’s Day Bar-b-q was put on by the men to serve the women their lunch, the men were literally on their knees when they presented the food to the women. The Anyuak used $200 of their offering to provide tuition for an Anyuak student that is attending school in Kenya. Saturday, May 16th (Noon -6pm) the Anyuak hosted a Service of remembrance for Aguwa Cham who passed away a year ago as a result of complications during childbirth and there were over a 100 in attendance. John has been invited to preach at a mission festival at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville on Sunday, September 13th. The ministry is going well and the Anyuak are very grateful for the support of our church, the LWML and the Minnesota North District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Worship and Music Notes “Called to Be Saints Together” Shared experiences can bring diverse people together. When you work side by side on a project with people you are not well acquainted with, you develop a sense of familiarity and camaraderie. Relationships form and bonds of friendship are forged. Can you recall an experience where you were put into a situation where you needed to work with somebody you did not know very well to complete a task or project? Was there a renewed sense of community as a result of your shared experience? Paul wrote to the Corinthians: “To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours.” (I Cor. 1:2) We have been called to be together: to worship, pray, commune, and be concerned for one another. We need one another. Have you heard the expression, “Jesus with skin on”? We can reach out with Jesus’ love to those around us and lift their burdens and make their day a little brighter. What greater place to do that and learn of God’s love and plan for us then in worship on Sunday morning? I am not that good at math, but here are some interesting numbers to look at concerning our congregation in the 10 years we have been in Trinity’s new church building: Membership in 2005- 1,162 Membership in 2015- 1,326 New members in that ten year span- 565 Sainted members in that ten year span- 150 Something here does not add up when I see the numbers of attendance in our bulletin. The brothers and sisters in Christ need one another. We are called to stand together. The Holy Spirit is at work among us. You and I are important to one another. Be present! Do not let priorities get mixed up. It is time to come together to worship and to be there for your fellow members. The Lord comes to us in His Word and the sacraments. Be strengthened and encouraged as you are present and learn from His Word and be a blessing to those around you. There is a hymn in the mission and witness section of our hymnal called “We Are Called to Stand Together”. (LSB 828) The unity of our togetherness is a witness to the community around us and future generations to remain faithful. To each coming generation tell the truth, persuade, explain, Till the time when time is ended, till the Savior comes againTill the saints are all united under Christ’s eternal reign. LSB 828:4 During the summer months, it is even easier to get side tracked from worship. If Sunday does not work, be sure to come on Monday at 6PM. You are needed as you are called to be saints together. To God be the Glory- Daniel Reineke, Music Director (320)656-0963 [email protected] Mark A. Kelley Insurance Agent 300 E. LWML: Women in Mission At the May 14th LWML meeting, Pastor Ehlers led us in an Ascension Observance service.

Salt & Pepper

Our June 11th meeting will be a noon gathering for lunch at Jimmy’s in Sauk Rapids. Our prayers will be for Trinity Delegate Connie Mooney as she, along with national convention delegates vote on mission matters while attending June 25-28 in Des Moines, Iowa. Nancy Oswald is our Little Falls Zone delegate and president.

Like S'mores? Please join us for our annual bonfire on Monday, June 8th at 6:30 pm. Come for worship and then stay for the bonfire and sing-along.

The convention theme “Bountiful! Sow-NourishReap” is a fitting theme for the heartland of America where we recognize how bountifully God shares His love and goodness and how He equips us by the Holy Spirit to be in our Father's mission field.

On Friday, June 26th we will be going to New London for the Crow Wing Waterski show. Departure date not yet determined, watch the bulletins. No July plans finalized yet, watch the bulletins for that also.

The Sunday School would like to thank all the volunteers: Shepherds, Mentors and Team Leads, who helped to make our Sunday School year such a great success! An extra THANKS to Connie Mooney who stepped in to do crafts. Great job Connie! You are appreciated, and we pray that our Lord continues to bless the Education Ministry at Trinity!

Worship Service Styles Trinity has been offering traditional and contemporary services. Currently, the position of Contemporary Music Leader is open. As musicians are available for 10:30, we will continue to offer a contemporary style. When that is not possible, the 10:30 service will be traditional. Please keep our church leadership team, officers, and musicians in your prayers as we continue to work on finding a Contemporary Music Leader.

Praise to Him! Lisa Hejhal

Summer worship schedule begins on Monday, June 1st with worship service at 6:00pm

Planned Giving Stories for Christian Stewards Miranda lived in the family home where she and her husband had raised their three children. After her spouse passed away, she found it increasingly difficult to care for her property. In talking with a friend who had a similar experience, Miranda learned that she could make a gift of her home to her church and receive income for life. Miranda: I called my church's gift planner and asked him how a Charitable Remainder Trust works. He said that when the time came for me to move out of my home, I could give it to the church by setting up a special kind of trust. The trust would provide me with income for the rest of my life and I would receive a tax deduction for my gift. Miranda thought that she might want to move to a condominium with less upkeep. Her financial advisor reviewed the plan and said that the income she received from the charitable remainder trust would be enough to cover her living expenses.
