MESSAGE RECAP Waiting upon the Lord – living in constant prayer – empowers us to be His witnesses (Acts 1:4-8). Constant prayer positions us to see people and their situations as God sees them, to feel God’s compassionate heart (Matt. 13:14-16; 9:36). Constant prayer also positions us to hear more clearly what God wants us to specifically do as His witnesses (John 5:19; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16).

GETTING STARTED

MINISTRY TIME

1. When have you had to impatiently wait on others? What emotions were stirred in you as you waited?

What a great opportunity to practice the very thing you have been discussing! Take time as a group to wait upon the Lord, to quietly listen to Him regarding those in your specific circles. Does He bring someone to mind to pray over? How does He see that person, and what does He desire for them? Is He leading you to purposefully do something as a witness to that person?

GOING DEEPER 1. What does it mean to wait upon the Lord? Why is waiting often challenging or frustrating? 2. How does prayer help us see others with spiritual eyes, to feel compassion for them? 3. How does prayer empower us to act or speak as God’s witnesses?

MAKING IT PERSONAL 1. How well do you wait upon the Lord? What is the greatest hindrance to you walking in constant prayer? 2. Who is God calling you to pray for this week within your sphere of influence? How does God want you to see them, and is He leading you to do anything specifically?

NEIGHBORHOOD PRAYER WALKING Take time toward the end of your Life Group gathering (approx. 20 minutes) to divide into smaller groups of 2-3 people to walk and pray over a specific neighborhood represented by someone in your group – this may require some planning for the next several weeks in terms of where you meet. Refer to the Neighborhood Prayer Guide for specific bullet points on how to pray as you walk (available at the Unleashed Information Table or online at www.beltwayunleashed.com/downloads and www.beltwayunleashed.com/lifegroups). Please be strategic in identifying and assigning specific streets to the smaller parties you send out.

JUST FOR LEADERS VISION CASTING: Remember to be intentional in breaking into specific discipleship groups this month (Fireteams for men; Impact Groups for women). Cast the vision to your group again and communicate a clear plan for how and when these groups will take place. CRITICAL DATES & INFORMATION: Sunday, Sept. 25 – DNA Infusion at 10:50am in the Fellowship Hall Wednesday, Sept. 28 – DNA Infusion at 6:00pm in the Fellowship Hall
