COME JOIN US This advanced 8 week baseball program is open to all interested middle school players (6th - 8th graders) who are interested in improving their baseball skills and fundamentals. Shawn Pender, Major League Advance Scout and ML Spring Training Coach for the Cincinnati Reds has run this dynamic training program for the last 12 years and brings it Diamond Academy for the 1st time this season. Joining Shawn is Rich Coletta, current scout for the Seattle Mariners Baseball Club, and former High School, D-I and Cape Cod Baseball Coach, who has coached over 20 NCAA All-Americans and has had over 60 players drafted by MLB. Both men will be working with our group of 25 players with additional professional Diamond staff to provide the type of individual baseball instruction not available anywhere else. Registration for this specialized program is offered to the 1st 25 position players that sign up. This is a position specific training program for INFIELDERS and OUTFIELDERS only. The 1.5-hour sessions will include training in defense, hitting, base running, and other essential baseball fundamentals required to successfully advance to the high school level and beyond. Please note that players will be exposed to a systematic training regiment designed to develop proper throwing techniques, hitting progressions, on-base awareness, and all the nuances of playing baseball at the high school level. Players should expect a high level of repetition on hitting tees, live batting practice, and position specific defensive drills that create positive results with high quality instruction that will be available through Shawn, Rich and the rest of our professional staff. Teaching and demonstration will be a major component of the program, and it is important to note players will be exposed to a teaching system set up to mirror a minor league spring training program designed to help players prepare for success in their the upcoming season.
