Charterhouse Street No Through Access on 6 December to 8 December – Exploratory Trial Hole Work Duration of work Thank you for your patience whilst we continue to build the new Crossrail Farringdon Station. Before the arrival of ‘Ada’, the second tunnel boring machine (TBM) to arrive at Farringdon in December 2013, it is necessary to protect the existing water mains and sewer located within St John Street. Before we commence the works, we will need to carry out further exploratory work and repairs within the trial hole excavated last weekend at the junction of Charterhouse Street/Grand Avenue. We also need to check for obstructions and obtain more detailed and accurate information about ground conditions and existing services also located within the road. We will update you on our findings and our programme of works in our next information sheet and email update. To ensure completion of these works and to minimize the duration of the road closures, 24 hours have been granted by the Local Authority. We will endeavor to minimize noise and activities during night hours. Charterhouse Street closed at 11:00 on Friday 6 December and will reopen at 16:00 on Sunday 8 December

 Friday 6 December 11:00 to Sunday 8 December 16:00  What to expect  Road diversion will be in place.  Possibility of low pressure in water supply for short periods, during connection work.  Pedestrian access to all business and properties maintained at all times.  Some noisy periods using best practical means.  No through access via Charterhouse Street

What we will do  Monitor noise and dust and keep within permitted levels at all times.  Carry less noisy works at night time.  Use acoustic screening to reduce noise at source  Have traffic management in place to ensure roads are safe and managed.  Have road diversion clearly signposted.
