From the Pastor My Dear Parishioners, February 11 is traditionally the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. Each year this day has been designated as World Day of the Sick, “a special time of prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering for the good of the Church and of reminding us to see in our sick brother and sister the face of Christ who, by suffering, dying and rising, achieved the salvation of humankind.” (Letter instituting the World Day of the Sick, 13 May 1992). Please remember to pray for all the sick and suffering. If there are any among us who are in need of prayers, a visit by the priest, or for the Sacraments, please contact our Parish Office. Thank you for all you do to help the sick and suffering to know that Jesus Christ loves them and is with them in their illness. The Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday until the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. It is a season whereby we are given the opportunity to contemplate our life journey toward Easter of eternal life. I ask you to seriously consider how you enter into this holy season of conversion, not as an observer or a bystander or someone going through the motions. Rather I hope that you enter acknowledging your dependence on God, a sinner in need of conversion, a pilgrim on a journey toward Christ. Lent is a special time of grace to show justice and faithfulness, to practice mercy and forgiveness toward others. Some of the helps available are daily Mass, the availability of the Sacrament of Penance, and Lenten devotions such as the Stations of the Cross. Please ask the Holy Spirit to guide you on your journey! In Christ’s Love, Fr. Guadagnoli

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LENT? Fasting: Ash Wednesday & Good Friday obliges those 18 to 59 years of age to fast. Fasting is comprised of one regular meal and two smaller meals that, together, are not equal to a full meal. Abstinence: Ash Wednesday, all Fridays during Lent & Good Friday obliges everyone 14 and older to abstain from eating meat.

Dios bendiga a ti y a tu familia, P. Guadagnoli ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________
