Weekly Focus on Missions World Missions: Steve and Marion serve in Lilongwe, Malawi. They have lived in the African Bible College (ABC) compound in Lilongwe for the last 21 years where Steve teaches at the College and serves as Director and Academic Dean. ABC is a four-year liberal arts degree granting educational institution with campuses in Malawi, Uganda and Liberia. The purpose of ABC is to train, nurture, and develop Africa’s next generation of Christian leaders. Marion serves as hospitality and social coordinator for staff and students. Steve and Marion celebrate the blessings of family; they have eight healthy children. Mission Memphis: Youth Leadership of Memphis asks us to pray for specific people related to their ministry: Fred, who continues to have headaches, and Printess, who was hit by a car a month ago. Please pray for the families of those who live/ lived in Cleaborn Homes as they are adapting to their new communities and neighborhoods – that they will experience God’s guidance and comfort in these transitions. Please continue to pray for strong relationships to be built between the volunteers and the participants. Also pray for God’s guidance as Youth Leadership continues to discuss new ideas, programs, and job opportunities.

Coming Soon Usher Recruitment Meeting: Those interested in becoming a part of Second’s Usher Ministry are invited to a meeting in the sanctuary at 9:45 a.m. this morning. Second Wednesday: This month’s congregational prayer meeting is on February 9, in the Fellowship Hall (dinner

at 5:30 p.m., followed by prayer at 6:30). Nursery is available for children ages four and under. Choir meets at 6:15 for ages PreK-1st grade. Older children (2nd-6th grade) are invited to KidsKonnection in the Gym beginning at 6:15. 3M Luncheon: All Senior Adults are invited to a luncheon on Monday, February 14, in Fellowship Hall at 12 p.m. Come hear our own Col. Elmer Follis, Retired Air Force Colonel, speak of his experiences in both the Korean and the Vietnamese Conflicts, in which he flew 400 missions. One of his last assignments was with NATO as Chief of Nuclear Operations for Central Europe! Make your reservations by Wednesday, February 9 by calling 454-0034. CityServe Explorers: CityServe Explorers will visit KIPP, a downtown charter school, on February 17. KIPP is a network of 99 college preparatory charter schools that serve low-income communities. Though typically 1 in 10 low-income students graduate from college, 85% of KIPP alumni nationwide are currently enrolled. KIPP Memphis serves 400 at-risk children in grades 5-8 with plans to open a high school in Fall 2011. CityServe Explorers: CityServe Explorers will visit KIPP, a downtown charter school, on February 17. KIPP is a network of 99 college preparatory charter schools that serve low-income communities. Though typically 1 in 10 low-income students graduate from college, 85% of KIPP alumni nationwide are currently enrolled. KIPP Memphis serves 400 at-risk children in grades 5-8 with plans to open a high school in Fall 2011.
