Finance Officer (Staff Accountant) Description of the College International College of Manitoba (ICM), in association with University of Manitoba, offers university pathway programs to international students and is based on the University of Manitoba Campus in Winnipeg. Position Navitas is seeking to employ a Finance Officer to join our North American financial shared services team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Finance Officer is responsible for providing accounts support to the Director of Finance and the Finance Manager. The main duties of this role include creditor management, commission payments to agents, student financial management, bank and general ledger reconciliations.

1. Student Financial Management • • • • • •
Process student receipts and refunds Update the receipt batch and prepare the necessary paperwork for banking and filing purposes Review of student financial records and make necessary adjustments Responsible for student debt monitoring and collection Reconcile University billings to Maze Address student financial inquiries (email and in person)
2. Creditor management

Maintain and review creditors database and ledger entry of invoices Generate and review creditor payments throughout the year Reconciliation of supplier statements and creditor accounts Maintain sundry creditors and accruals
3. Agents – Commission Payments and Database

Generate agent commission payments Provide effective communication with agents in respect of their accounts Maintaining of accurate creditor’s database Process and review of commission refunds Assist marketing and admissions sections with the adoption of the Salesforce and ensure integrity of the data at all times in relation to commission calculation.
4. Bank Reconciliation
Prepare the bank reconciliations

Raise general ledger payments, receipts and journals Assist with preparation of regular general ledger reconciliations

Relieve/assist the other members of the finance team as required Ensure documentation is maintained in an orderly fashion Provide administrative relief when required during busy periods in other areas of business Provide excellent internal and external customer service Assist with payroll data entry and administrative duties Other duties as required
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Post-secondary studies in Accounting and/or related areas or extensive experience in an accounting area Excellent written and verbal communication skills Attention to details and high accuracy levels Proven and demonstrated ability to use Microsoft office and Oracle Proven ability to work as a part of a team Personable with a positive and willing attitude. Demonstrated alignment with the Navitas values of: conviction, rigour, drive, adventurous, respect and genuine. Legal right to work in Canada.
Currently in an accounting program (CPA) Experience in dealing with people from different cultures
