BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FINANCE Finance graduates enjoy the highest starting salary of all majors, and UNH students are at the front line in this industry. The Finance Option provides students with opportunities in a variety of disciplines including commercial banking, insurance, corporate finance control, investment banking, money management, venture capital, and risk management. The goal of the Finance Option is to expose students to all three major areas of finance: investments, corporate, and financial institutions. This option also helps students who plan to sit for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level I exam, the Certified Financial Manager (CFM) exam, and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam.

Investment Funds The Mel Rines ‘47 Student Angel Investment Fund will be managed by students as part of a two-credit class and supervised by an advisory group of entrepreneurs and private equity investors who will serve as mentors for the student angel analysts. The Atkins Investment Group is a student-run organization at the Paul College of Business and Economics that provides a unique opportunity for students to learn about the world of investing. Within this fund, students have access to US$100,000 and all of the buying, selling, and administrative decisions are made entirely by students of the group. This is a rare and unique opportunity for students to learn about the world of investing. Members have recognized this opportunity and have taken full advantage of it. The superior returns of The Wildcat Fund show that students at the Paul College of Business have the necessary skills and abilities to succeed in today’s business world.

Internships As part of the Finance Option at UNH, students have the option of earning credits in their junior year by participating in an internship. Some students remain in the U.S. to complete these internships, while others return to their home country.

Highly-employable The job outlook for finance students is strong. Starting and mid-career salaries are typically among the highest of all majors at a university. Finance was among Forbes list of 15 Most Valuable College Majors in 2012, The Wall Street Journal’s list of Top 10 majors by starting salary in 2013, and Kiplinger’s Top 10 Best College Majors for a Lucrative Career in 2013. Many premier jobs in business, such as hedge fund manager and CFO, are in finance.
