4500 Series GC/MS is designed to address analytical needs such as these: • Analyzing samples which can easily contaminate your ion source. • Performing analyses which benefit from chemical ionization (CI) with corrosive reagent gases. • Doing routine analyses amenable to extensive automation, such as GC con­ trol, autosampler operation and auto­ matic data analysis. • Obtaining optimized quality of both electron impact (El) and CI spectra. The Features That Benefit You The 4500 Series meets these demands. To give you high quality, reproducible El and CI spectra, it features replaceable ion volumes geometrically optimized for El and CI analyses of solid, liquid and gaseous samples. Ion source contamination problems are minimized, because of the ease with which you can replace a dirty source. Also, the 4500 lens assembly design greatly simplifies source cleaning.

An optional discharge ionization system allows you to perform CI using "problem" reagent gases which are corrosive or oxidizing.
