Friday 16th November 2018 Dear Parents Learning update this week … We have enjoyed completing lots of colourful crafts based on the story Elmer. We have all worked hard on recognising numbers by helping Elmer on his number hunt challenge! We have enjoyed decorating biscuits, wearing our pyjamas and doing lots of fun activities for Children in Need. Next week we will be… •
Completing more activities based on Elmer and using ‘Talk for Writing’ to help us to re-tell the story through actions and drama.
•
Looking at patterns in maths.
•
Playing some simple games in PE, and encouraging the children to come up with ideas of their own.
How can I help my child at home? Talking homework: Talk about things in your home that might have patterns on them, e.g. socks, bedding, wall paper etc. Ask your child “What pattern can you see?” Superstar learner’s homework: Complete the Elmer sheet and design your own elephant, using stripes, spots or any pattern you choose. Play ‘I spy’: Ask them to find things in your home that might represent a shape or a coloured object. e.g.: “I spy a green oblong door, where is it?” Remember:
A reminder to bring a pair of black shorts for our PE lesson on Thursdays. Thank you if you have already done so. All hair accessories are to be plain, navy blue or white, e.g. no patterns, glitter or bows. Open evening is next Tuesday 20th November at 6pm if you would like to come and have a look at our reception class. You can follow some of our weekly activities through our Twitter account @kirkbridemrs.
Please come and speak to Mrs Kirkbride if you have any questions or you can Email
