Gerry Schmidt is also leading a HFH International Global Village build to Krabi, Thailand in late Apr. 2018 and invites Gary members to be part of the volunteer team. Contact Gerry through the Church Office for information about these opportunities. Helping Hands Mission Book Drive: Feb. 4–18. Gary Kids will be collecting gently used children’s books to donate to Bernie’s Book Bank, which distributes quality children’s books to at-risk infants, toddlers, and school-age children throughout the area. Donations can be dropped off on Sunday mornings in the Lower Level.

Children’s and Youth Ministries Serve Sunday: Today from 3–4 p.m. Middle and high school students, come spend an hour playing Bingo with the residents of Brighton Garden Assisted Living in Wheaton. Gary Youth Midweek: Join us Feb. 7 and 21 from 7–8:30 p.m. in the Activity Center. We will not meet on Feb. 14 and encourage you to attend the 7 a.m. Ash Wednesday service with your family that day. Musical Rehearsals for children and youth continue on Sunday afternoons through Mar. 11 from 2–4 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Come be part of The Old Testament Fast Forward. The musical will be performed on Mar. 18 at 4 p.m. . Register by Feb. 7 for the Gary Youth Winter Chill: Feb. 17–19 at Camp Geneva in Lake Geneva, WI. Middle and high school students are encouraged to join us. Come worship, tube, play broomball, and chill with us. The $170 cost includes all activities, travel, food, and a Winter Chill shirt. Playgroup: Feb. 8 from 4–5 p.m. in the Activity Center. The kids can run around, ride scooters, and play with balls and hula hoops. Snacks provided. All kids are welcome. 4th & 5th Grade Fellowship: Feb. 9 from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in the Activity Center. Be sure to join us as we pack family meal bags for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Parent’s Night Out: Feb. 16 from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in the Lower Level Lobby. Parent's Night Out is open to children ages 6 months–grade 3. Reservations are required through Gary's Church Office and a donation of $5 per child is suggested.

Opportunities at Gary Church Gary/Winfield Lunch Group will meet on Feb. 8 at 12 p.m. in Gary’s Commons. Main dish provided. Bring a dish to share. Cost: $2 per person. All are welcome Faith Club: A Women’s Interfaith Book Discussion Group meets on Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Anderson Room. Join other women of Christian, Jewish, and Islamic faith to discuss Sophia's Journal, an historic YA novel by Najiyah Diane Maxfield. RSVP to Cathy Mousseau through the Church Office. Young Family Fellowship outing to Fox Bowl, Wheaton: Feb. 18 from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Cost: $12.50 per person for bowling, shoes, and pizza. RSVP to Dave and Meredith Worniak through the Church Office by Feb. 13. The Lunchtime Literary Group will meet Feb. 27 at 12 p.m. to discuss Britt-Marie Was Here by Frederick Backman. Read the book, pack a lunch, and join us in the Anderson Room.

Please Note Gary Youth pizza pick-up today from 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in the Commons. The students of Gary Youth thank you for supporting youth ministry. Scout Sunday will be Feb. 11. All Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms that morning. Styrofoam Recycling: Feb. 25 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. in the south driveway. Bring your rinsed food containers in one bag and solid packing materials in a separate bag, and our faithful team of volunteers will take the materials to the recycling center in Aurora. Gary Kids is in need of a volunteer for the Kindergarten Sunday School class. If you can lead one Sunday a month and assist one Sunday a month, please contact Carey Bebar. Auction Items Needed for Soup & Chili Cook-off and Auction: Mar. 18 in the Commons. We are thankful for auction items donated each year to support the Gary Youth summer mission trip, but also have a need for new donations to help us reach our fundraising goal. Burning Bush Art Gallery—An Outreach of Gary Church Now Showing: Palestine Unlimited, on display through Feb. 11, features prize-winning photos from Dar Al-Kalima University College of Arts and Culture. Acorn Coffeehouse presents Meagan Wells on Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Cost: $10. Megan is an award-wining story and theater artist who infuses characters with living souls.
