GIFT CARDS Mount Ararat Baptist Church (referred to herein as “we,” “us” and “our”) sponsors a shopping card program which allows you to purchase shopping cards from a variety of retailers. The shopping cards you purchase through our program generate rebates from the participating retailers (currently from 1% to 14% of their face value). These rebates can be used as a credit to your family account, taken in cash, or as a contribution to the church. The parties agree as follows: For administering the scrip program, we will retain 10% of the rebates received from your scrip purchases as an administration fee. We agree to apply the balance of your rebates as designated below: _____as a charitable contribution to the Mount Ararat Baptist Church Building Program. All balances remaining on December 31 each year will be donated to the MABC building fund.* _____as a cash rebate of the balance in your account to be paid to you through December 31 of each year. The IRS treats this money as rebates from retailers, and as such, is not considered income to you. _____credited to your family account which can be used to pay for all MABC programs and events during the year. By visiting the church office Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00am – 3:30pm
At the kitchen window Sunday mornings from 9:15 – 9:30 and 10:45 – 11:15.
At special times/events at our discretion.
Many local retailers participate and their cards are normally held in inventory. Many other retailers can be purchased one week in advance with a prepaid order. The MABC website offers many more vendors that we don’t have room to keep on hand, but can order for you quickly. Special orders must be paid in advance and may incur the shipping cost. When you are ready to expense your shopping card proceeds to a particular program/activity, please contact Lori Hubbard (
[email protected] or 540-658-1070. A statement of accrued/expensed proceeds can be provided anytime by also contacting Lori. It is your responsibility to inform us of any changes in contact information in order to insure distribution of your rebates. If we are unable to contact you, then your rebates will be donated to the building fund. You agree to indemnify us against any loss incurred in connection with there being insufficient funds in your account to cover the checks you issue to pay for your shopping cards. We will charge a returned check fee of $12. We make no representations or warranties of any kind with respect to the shopping cards. This agreement can be terminated or changed by either of us upon 30 days notice to the other. *With respect to your charitable contributions, we will include your rebate contribution on your end of year Statement of Giving as required under sections 170(f)(8) and 170(f)(17) of the Internal Revenue Code.
