Young children love to help, and it is a wonderful way for them to role-play and learn. Helping Hands will focus on kindness and helping others through service. Possible service projects include creating cards for the infirm and for our veterans and packing lunches for those in need. Throughout the week, campers will be active participants in making our world a better place through their own “helping hands.”
Our theme of helping others continues this week as we move from helping our local community to helping in the world community. This week’s camp will be centered around raising awareness and funds for The Lunch Project, a non-profit that helps to support lunch programs in Tanzania, East Africa (www.thelunchproject.org). Not only will campers be introduced to Tanzanian culture and a few Swahili words, they will also be inspired to serve and become empowered to change their world by supporting lunch programs in Tanzania. Campers will raise money by hosting a lemonade stand on campus. This week’s camp will tap into young children’s love for music and movement and will demonstrate that everyone can make music. Campers will create musical instruments, learn fun songs, and have plenty of opportunities to groove to the music. Gifted guitarist and music instructor Riley Walker will visit and work with our movin’ and groovin’ campers.
Students attending this camp will become mini zoologists as they learn about the amazing animal world. Campers will learn about a variety of animals from our pets, to barnyard animals, to wild animals, as they investigate animal sounds, habitats, and diets. Campers will enjoy a special visit from Red Dog Farm.
Aloha friends! During this camp session, campers will learn about the tropical paradise of Hawaii. Students will be introduced to the culture of Hawaii, tropical foods, plants, and out-door play. They will also learn the hula dance and enjoy a special luau.
