I’M NOT SURE YOU HEAR ME WEEK 2 - Oct. 20/21 (Jason Strand)

Jesus says, “Ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” How can Jesus say, “Ask and you’ll receive,” and yet there are so many times in our prayer life when we ask, and we don’t receive?

FOUR POSSIBILITIES FOR WHY OUR PRAYERS AREN’T ANSWERED: 1. An effective prayer life stems out of a _______________ ______________________ with Christ. 2. _______________ ___________ has clogged up the communication line 3. We’re giving up ___________ ____________. 4. God is answering, we’re praying so ___________________ we haven’t noticed.

SCRIPTURE You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! JOHN 14:14 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. JAMES 1:6-8 There was a judge in a certain city who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’ LUKE 18:2-5 We are human, but we don’t wage war with human plans and methods. We use God’s mighty weapons. 2 CORINTHIANS 10:3

For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke. If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, my Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. PSALM 66:17-18 Listen! The Lord is not too weak to save you and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. But there is a problem- your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. ISAIAH 59:1 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away and I groaned all day long. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. PSALM 32:1-5 Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and persistent in your prayers. EPHESIANS 6:18
