Liberal Arts As an undergraduate, explore majors in the humanities, fine and performing arts, education and social sciences that will help you understand what it means to be human and learn how to live well together. As you discover what you are most passionate about, you’ll also develop critical-thinking, writing and analytical skills that are in high demand in every job field and will serve you well for a lifetime. Graduate study includes a range of certificate, master’s and Ph.D. programs across the disciplines. Liberal Arts faculty members are Fulbright scholars, Pulitzer Prize winners and some of the most influential scholars in their fields. The college generates approximately $5 million in sponsored research annually.

Engineering and Physical Sciences The programs of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences are ranked among the best engineering programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report, 2016. Cultivating future researchers and industry leaders UNH offers many opportunities to learn alongside worldclass industry leaders and experts to help you prepare for a successful career after graduation. International Research Opportunities Program (IROP)

Social Venture Innovation Challenge (SVIC)

IROP grants are competitive awards supporting qualified research projects in diverse global settings such as government agencies, museums, archaeological and historical sites, laboratories and field sites. By working closely with a UNH mentor, students identify potential research sites and foreign mentors, and address issues of cross-cultural preparation.

Founded in partnership with Nobel Peace Prize winner, Muhammad Yunus, the SVIC is an idea-stage competition that engages aspiring student entrepreneurs in designing sustainable solutions to some of society’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. SVIC winners receive awards to help advance these promising models.

Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) Each year over 1,800 UNH undergraduate students from all academic disciplines present at the URC. The presentations showcase the results of their engaged and creative scholarly research in over 20 professional and artistic venues, making the UNH URC one of the largest conferences of its kind in the U.S.

Paul J. Holloway Prize Competition This multi-track competition takes students out of the classroom and into the real world. The Holloway Competition challenges students to develop products or services and present their business plans before panels of business leaders who judge their commercialization potential. More than $100,000 in cash and in-kind services, such as industry feedback and mentoring, are awarded throughout the competition.

“It was scary when I first came to UNH—as I was in a new environment, new culture and totally different place than I was used to back home. I maintained an open mind and positive attitude and said what makes you different makes you unique. From that moment on I never looked back, since then I’ve become a Resident Assistant, a diversity Ambassador, and became senator of the National Society for Black Engineers.” SRIYAA SHAH India, IUTP Academic: Liberal Arts (Psychology)
