Chamber Leadership

8

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff at the Chamber, I want to thank T.J. Jean of The Gafney Home for his leadership and dedication as Chairman of the Board over the past year. T.J. is a strong part of the Rochester Community and we were honored to have his support in leading the Chamber.

Chamber Calendar

For the past 16 years, I have had the pleasure of working in the credit union industry. In both the Chamber and within the credit union, I learned the importance of strong leadership and also serving a membership. We are here to serve you and aid in your individual and business growth. Bringing forward new initiatives, events and programs will allow you to build upon your business and work with one another in the synergistic approach which is key to our success. This year, we will be looking more into our future as we grow the next chapter of future leadership. Last year, we pushed forward with our Young Professionals Group. Many of our members sent newer employees to network and become involved in the Chamber. Our next step will be with the inaugural class of Leadership Greater Rochester. This professional development program will help many in the area learn about the many facets of their community and how to be well rounded and strong leaders for their community. For those of you who have seen the Chamber through many years of growth, you may be surprised as to how large and active we have become. When we talk about developing future leaders, we also want the future membership of the Chamber to be able to meet and learn from strong seasoned business persons who continue supporting their Chamber. I urge all members to look at ways that you can help the Chamber. You may be surprised to find how much this will end up helping you. Give me a call or meet with me at one of the various Chamber events this year. This is your Chamber and because of your trust, I am able to work with the entire Board of Directors and professional staff to give you what you deserve from the Chamber - Experience, Innovation and Trust.

Your Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce membership can help you accomplish several things such as helping to get your name out there, creating networking opportunities, and promoting your business. But in order to enjoy all the benefits the Chamber has to offer, think about getting involved.

One way to ensure you are meeting new people and gaining exposure for your business is to get involved in Chamber activities and events. Some members join a committee to help plan a singular event, like the Annual Dinner Dance & Awards Banquet, or join a committee, such as Membership, to focus on long term growth for the Chamber. Members often say they get out of the Chamber what they put into it. When a member actively participates, volunteers, and joins committees, they truly get the opportunities to form valuable business and community relationships. When a member works closely with other members on a committee, they often find valuable partnership opportunities. And when they volunteer at an event, the community can often benefit from their efforts. The Chamber does the leg work in bringing people together by creating opportunities for networking, promotion and collaboration, but it’s up to the members to take advantage of the dozens of benefits the Chamber offers. For more information on how you or your employees can become more involved, contact the Chamber at 603-332-5080!
