Dear Neighbour, Crossrail programme – Brentwood station works update Network Rail is undertaking essential improvement works in your area as part of the Crossrail programme. The new railway will link Reading and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, via new tunnels under central London, and will be known as the Elizabeth line. Current work at Brentwood station is focussed on the completion of platform extensions and installation of Customer Information Systems. Please see the table below for further details of our upcoming works in your area. We will be undertaking our works during daytime working hours wherever possible however, due to safety constraints and the need to keep the railway open as much as possible, some work will also have to be carried out during weekends and nights. Until late 2017 Weekends, various hours between 23:00 Saturday and 05:00 Monday Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 18:00
Construction of platform extensions at the east end of the station.
Installation of Customer Information Systems and associated platform ducting.
Opening channels in platform surfaces using cutting equipment and mechanical breakers.
Saturday, 08:00 – 13:00 Typical machinery to be used includes cement mixers, a rail-mounted crane and hand-held power tools.

While we do anticipate these works will create noise at times, we will do what we reasonably can in order to keep noise levels to a minimum. The local authority will continue to be consulted through the Control of Pollution Act 1974 (Section 61) process regarding these works.
