AGBU currently has a presence in 31 countries, annually touching the lives of some 500,000 Armenians worldwide. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Junior Accountant will be based in New York City, reporting to t he Senior Financial Analyst. The ideal candidate should possess 1-2 years of non-profit accounting experience or 1-2 years of public accounting experience with non-profit exposure. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in Accounting, primarily in the areas of non-profit required Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, functions, text-to-columns vlookups, etc.) required Proficiency in MS Outlook and Word Familiarity of “Blackbaud- Financial Edge” software a plus KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules for banking & investment activity Assist with investment accounting and related administrative tasks Assist with financial variance analysis and account analysis schedules Set-up and run Financial Edge reports or queries as needed Assist with Year End Close, Delaware Consolidation, Annual Audit and IRS Form 990. Assist accounting team on ad-hoc projects, filing and accounts payable as needed SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently, while also participating collaboratively as part of a team Ability to prioritize and complete deliverables with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to proactively accept responsibilities from supervisors and work under deadlines Knowledge of the Armenian language a plus, but not a requirement United States citizenship or residency required
