LifeGroup Questions – John 3:1-16 Come & See #5 – Looking for Something More 1. Read John 3:1-9. Put yourself in Nicodemus’ skin and ask yourself some questions. How do you feel? Why do you come at night? Whose opinion matters to you and why? What are you hoping to get from the conversation? How do you feel about Jesus? Back to present-self, how would you describe your first encounter(s) with Jesus?

2. Who are the Nicodemus’ in your circle? People who seem to have it all together on the outside but on the inside they are looking for something more? Or maybe they are secretly curious about Jesus? How should you pray for them?

3. Dan spent some time talking about being “born-again.” He described three characteristic meanings of this metaphor. That being born again is about a radical change not more of the same. It’s about finding a new life, not a new religion. It means that you are not in control. Which of those definitions connects with or impacts you most? Why?

4. Read John 3:14-16. Of all the greatest elements of this gospel summary which is most impactful or meaningful to you right now? “For God” (the greatest one) so loved (the greatest heart) the world (the greatest number) that He gave His only Son (the greatest gift) that whoever (the greatest invitation) believes in Him (the greatest response) will have eternal life (the greatest life).

5. If you were to use John 3:16 as a way to share the gospel…what encounter story would you share to illustrate it? It doesn’t have to be Nicodemus…it could even be a story from your life.

6. Read John 3:14-15. Dan closed with two questions. Do I believe in Jesus? And am I lifting Jesus up so that others will come and see and believe? How do you answer those two questions?

7. As a result of this encounter between Nicodemus and Jesus; what are you hearing from the Spirit for you now? What are you learning about Jesus? Where is God calling you to lean in and apply the Word?
