HEAL THY SPORT HE ALTHY CLUB
MERRY CHRISTMAS As we review 2017, it has been a great year and we’ve continued to move forward and move in the right direction. There will always be challenges, but nothing we can’t handle with everyone’s support. [Date] Our coaches have been a critical part of our club. We can’t thank them enough. The hours, patience and heart they put into our players is outstanding. A lot of the coaches have become great role models and mentors for our children. The kids have responded well and have proven this in this years results. We also thank all the parents, care givers and children for all your dedication and support to the water polo and our club. We know it can be draining but yet rewarding. We’ve lost some great committee members this year, but we’ve gained some eager and passionate members to help grow the club. The goals for Sea Wolf Water Polo will always be • to develop an outstanding team and club culture • to help grow outstanding human beings • to enjoy competitive excellence 2018 is going to be a memorable year, we look forward to seeing you next year. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Sea Wolf Committee
U14 Nationals 2017 Division 1 U14 Boys Black The boys played an outstanding tournament. The team had a tough pool, but claimed all wins with victories over North Harbour B (10-1), Harbour City (19-3), and Mountfort Park (5-4). The North Harbour B win showed our significant improvement over the course of the season, where we narrowly beat them 3-0 in Auckland League. The team continued strong as we progressed into the championship round. Here we had a commanding performance over Waikato (6-1), followed by a very tight game with North Harbour A, which resulted in a draw (3-3). The game with North Harbour A was one of the games of the tournament, with both teams fighting for a spot in the semi finals. We overcame a 0-2 goal start to finish strong, and force the draw which put us into the semis as number 1 seed. In the semi finals the boys played a great game to secure a win against Rotorua (10-4), the score was 3 all at half time, but the boys went up another gear in the second half to put the game away. The gold medal was contested by us and Marist Red. We had previously played Marist Red in the Auckland league and lost 8-11, which we were hoping to avenge. Our boys played with determination, and fought until the very end, against a strong Marist team, and after a hard game, im front of a large crowd, went down 3-8. Overall, we finished 2nd in NZ U14 2017, the best result for our club yet! A great finish, to a great season. Congratulations to Brody Lang for making tournament Team. To all boys moving up to U16 next year, good luck! To those who will be back to U14 next year, bring on Wellington 2018!

U14 Boys Grey The U14 Grey team started off with a tough loss to PNBHS and from there we had our work cut out for us to progress to finals. We managed to finish 2nd in our pool which led to a quarter-final against TGA. We had a tight loss 7-5 to them in quite an exciting game and then won our next game against Marist to get into the 5/6 play offs. Unfortunately we couldn't get the ball in the goal for our last game going down 2-1. The team had great fun and made significant team and individual improvements all the way through. Ben
U14 Girls Black The U14 girls had a great tournament filled with a lot of ups and downs. We were placed in a difficult pool with two other very strong teams where we played our hardest but still couldn't quite manage a win. Despite this the rest of the tournament we saw massive improvements with each game, winning all our other games to come out with the plate, something the girls were very proud of. To see the girls come together and play some great, structured water polo, the older players stepping up and taking leadership and the huge difference in confidence of younger ones between the first game and the last was all I could ask for as a coach. Although we didn't come out with the result we wanted this tournament showed us the huge potential this team has. Next year a focus on more skills and fitness will allow us to aim for a better placing and in the next two years we will continue our goal of stepping up to Division 1 Nationals. Exciting times to come! Cecilia
U14 Boys White The Tauranga tournament for the white team was a success! After having settled into great accommodation for both the boys teams to relax and hang out, we had our sights on the games. We started the tournament slowly taking the first 4 games to find our footing. We eventually learnt to swim until we couldn't swim no more, and a bit of communication to come away on big positives. All the boys developed their skills along the tournament and played out of their skin by the end if it. Not only am I proud of how much they have all improved by the end of the season but how much they bonded while at nationals, they became a tight knit of friends and team mates, all bright futures for sea wolf white.
