Ideas for Taking the Way Out!

1. Stop feeding your temptations: Eliminate all (within reason) those things around you that trigger you to act outside of God’s willl for you life. Don’t hesitate to make drastic changes! (i.e. get rid of your smart phone, or at least turn it off!). 2. Reach out for Fellowship with those who understand! 3. Admit your powerless and say short saving prayers! 4. Surrender control of your life to God. Do whatever it takes and keep an open mind. 5. Bring the inside out! - Take “mini-inventories” every day and talk it out with one of your support team. Bringing light to what has been in darkness has a way of stealing its power. 6. Write and Speak Scripture prayers. Speaking the word of God aloud has great power. Write down applicable verses on 3x5 cards and carry them in your pockets. Be creative! 7. Read God-inspired books written by Christian authors about some of the areas your are struggling. 8. Go to work on other defects! Sometimes, we are tempted to “act out” because we’re refusing to deal with something deeper. Ask God to “reveal and heal” the root that is causing rotten fruit. 9. Learn to give instead of take. It’s amazing how God can chase away a temptation simply by us beginning to focus on the needs of others, and offering our help. Practice taking actions of LOVE! 10. Recognize and Feed Your hungee for God! 11. Cast it out! In the name and power of Jesus Christ! Home Work Week Six 1. Sit with Jesus and read 1 Corinthians 10 & Romans 7:14-25. Ask Jesus to reveal to you areas where you are “falling into temptation” and are doing things that your new nature does not want to do. Make a list of ways you are tempted. 2. Prayerfully prepare for each day by looking to this list and bring each area before God in your morning quiet time. “Pack your parachute before you jump from the plane!” (Matthew 26:41) 3. Become a student of the temptations that come your way each day, by stopping throughout your day and asking the Lord “How am I being tempted now?”. Make note of these temptations, and the outcome of your choices. 4. Begin practicing “taking the way out” by looking to the scrtipture and the list of ideas above. Celebrate and give thanks to God, everytime you see and take His way out, even if it’s seemingly insignificant. 5. Continue you search for safe and truthful friends. Share with someone, (who can bear God’s image to you =Truth and Grace), your list of temptations and ask for them to pray with you. Reach out to a friend in the midst of a temptation and ask for their prayers and fellowship.
