The test methods will cover deter­ mination of sulfur content of petro­ leum products, determination of mag­ nesium oxide content of portland ce­ ment, and measurement of density and moisture content of in-place soil. Two documents dealing with radiation do­ simetry are also ready for submission to the society. One will cover definitions applying to dosimetry and the other is a method for neutron dosimetry of metals. The committee is planning to spon­ sor a two-session symposium on radia­ tion effects on materials at the 1960 annual meeting.

Calorimetry Conference to Be Held The 15th Calorimetry Conference will be held at Gatlinburg, Tenn., Sept. 7 to 10. Among topics to be covered in the four-day meeting are precision reaction and bomb calorimetry, solu­ tion calorimetry, microcalorimetry, heat capacity measurements at low and high temperatures, application of calorimetric techniques to solid state physics, development in precise tem­ perature measuring devices, tempera­ ture scales, and standard calorimetric samples. The deadline for receipt of titles of papers offered for presenta­ tion is July 1. Additional informa­ tion can be obtained from Dr. J. P. McCollough, conference chairman, U. S. Bureau of Mines, Box 1321, Bartlesville, Okla.
