Your support can also be given by volunteering, participation and even prayer. Attached is the Varieties of Gifts, Varieties of Service form if you haven’t gotten an opportunity to complete for this upcoming year. It is my sincere hope that you will continue to support Avery Church in whatever way you can. Dan McVicker, Stewardship Committee

THIS WEEK’S EVENTS!

Mark T. Waltz Treasurer of Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Company on Coach Revelle:

“I came to the luncheon knowing absolutely nothing about you other than the fact that you were the women's softball coach at UNL. However, I left the luncheon moved by the passion of your message and encouraged by your boldness in proclaiming your commitment to following the calling of the Lord in your life. I cannot tell you how refreshing it was to hear a message full of wisdom, humility, compassion, inspiration and the truths of the heart. You gave those young athletes a tremendous gift this afternoon. You gave them tools not just to help them achieve the ultimate success on the athletic field, but to also achieve the ultimate success in life."

AVERY NURSERY

Avery Personnel Committee is in need of volunteers to help staff our nursery. With the start of Sunday School, Choir Practice, and other upcoming events, staffing the nursery must be a priority. We currently have one paid Nursery attendant (Veronica Alsidez-Longoria) who is doing a great job, but with the growing number of children, she sometimes needs help. We need to develop a “bench” of paid unpaid volunteers who can be called to assist Veronica when we have more children than she can safely handle, or when there is only one child present. Our Church insurance carrier states that we should never have a situation where we have one adult and one minor together, except in a counselling situation. We sometimes have this situation in the Nursery and need to make sure that Veronica can call in a second attendant when this happens. Please pray about this and if you are willing to help on a paid or volunteer basis, please let Steve Horn know ([email protected]). Volunteers will require a background check conducted by our Presbytery.

OPEN DOOR MISSION

Avery is the volunteer sponsor for Open Door Mission on the 4th Monday of each month. Please note that the timing has been moved back an hour in order to accommodate the later school hours. They will now start at 5:30 instead of 4:30. Open Door relies on us to have a number of volunteers for each month that we have committed to. Please let Cheryl Stensby know if you will be able to assist this month by emailing her at [email protected].

SIGN UP ONLINE TODAY TO BENEFIT AVERY YOUTH PROGRAMS! COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM DILLON’S (BAKER’S) SUPERMARKET   For the period July 1 – September 30, 2015 ~ 44 Avery households supported this program. The donation back to Avery Church is $261.42!       Sometimes opportunity comes knocking at your door. That’s exactly what happened here at Avery Church with Community Rewards. Community Rewards is a program sponsored by Dillon’s (Bakers) Supermarket where Avery Church will get credit for purchases its members or friends make using their registered Plus card at Bakers Supermarket. The more we shop the more opportunity Avery has to earn more rewards. The money Avery receives from Community Rewards will go directly toward our youth programs. Church members or friends must have 3 things to register and begin supporting Avery youth groups: 1) A Plus card, which is available at any Bakers store. 2) A valid email address (If you don’t have an email address, one can be obtained from free online services and can be anonymous). 3) A personalized account at Bakers website, which again can be anonymous. TO ENROLL IN THE COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM Members or friends must go to www.bakersplus.com/communityrewards Sign in or create an account (see below) Click on "Enroll Now" Enter the 5-digit NPO and search (Avery’s NPO is 14599) Select Avery Presbyterian Church and click on "Enroll" TO CREATE AN ONLINE ACCOUNT AT Baker’s WEBSITE: Go to www.bakersplus.com/communityrewards Click on "Register" at the top of the page Enter your email address, password, zip code (select preferred store) and check the box if you desire to receive email communication from Bakers Click on "Create Account" at the bottom of the page You will receive an email confirmation to your inbox. To activate your account click on the link in the body of the email and enter your sign in information to confirm. That’s all there is to it. Every three months Avery will receive a portion of $500,000.00 (2 million dollars for this year) which is distributed based on a percentage of the sales our members and friends had made. We have been told that there are currently 900 organizations enrolled in Community Rewards and the average quarterly benefits check is $5,000.00. Avery Church may or may not earn this much, but this is certainly a way you can support the Youth of Avery Church simply by shopping at Bakers. Remember, your friends and neighbors are eligible to sign up and you don’t have to attend Avery to support our youth.

Use of the Avery Church Facilities     If you would like to use the church facilities for any reason, please notify the church office to check the availability of your requested date/time, and ensuring it is on the church calendar. Please return the completed application to the church office (if possible) 30 days prior to your requested date. The applications are an important communication tool for the Buildings and Grounds committee who are responsible for the opening/securing the facility, and for the Church custodian. Everyone’s cooperation

in following this procedure is important and appreciated, so that we avoid conflicts of dates and space for all church and non-church related events. An application is attached or you can request a copy from the church office. Thank you!

CHURCH DATABASE UPDATES Please notify the church office of any changes to your personal information, including address or telephone number, births, marriages, etc. so that we can keep our database current. It is also important in helping us cut down on return mail costs. Thank you!
