Continuing Growth at NSM As NSM continues to grow we strive to find ways to improve our customer service to our clients. Our latest improvement is the addition of a new multiple-line phone system. The most important benefit of this new system is that we now have more than one phone line. This means that during business hours we will not have as many calls going to our voice mail system as we have in the past. This new phone system is on a landline, which is also referred to as a POTS line (Plain Old Telephone System). Because of this change to a landline, we now have a new phone number. It is 916-575-7603. Please note that the old number (916-801-3331) WILL NOT be disconnected. However, the new multiple-line phone number is the best way to contact the administrative office. Voice mail is set up for the landline phone in case you call when all lines are busy. The new phone number will be forwarded to the cell number (801-3331) when the office is closed. It will take a while to get the new number published in all of our print media, and to update the number on our banners and other promotional materials, but you can begin using the new phone immediately.

October 29, 2016, Student Showcase Summary Once again, the October Showcase lived up to the reputation of the previous showcases—It was AWESOME! The performers ranged from very new members of our school to seasoned veterans of the stage, from very young to adult.

Here’s a group photo of students and teachers from one of the performances.

Thank you to each and every student who performed and to his or her instructors for the extra work put forth in preparing for the Showcase. And, I want to thank the office staff and support staff for the extra effort they put forth in organizing, scheduling, creating, and finetuning the production schedule, the program, and the name badges. Our Showcase performances would not be successful without the experience and knowledge of our audio engineers, Mr. Philip and Mr. Norman. They not only engineer the sound during the performances, they lead a team of instructors and other hired help in setting up the stage and running all of the cables. This activity starts about 3 hours before the first performance and wraps up about 3 hours after the last performance ends. And, of course, I need to thank the parents, families and friends who attend our Showcases for the support shown to each performer as they present their performance. One of the purposes of the Showcase is to give the students an opportunity to share their music and to inspire each other in the process. I want to extend a special thank you to Sister Jeanne at Stanford Settlement for providing a venue for us for this Showcase. As most of you know, there was a conflict of schedule with our usual venue, and I had accepted the fact that we were going to have to skip the October Showcase. With Sister Jeanne’s help, that was avoided. Sister Jeanne is very thankful for all of the donations of non-perishable food, Christmas wrapping paper, and Christmas presents that were brought to our Showcase for Stanford Settlement’s “Operation Cratchit.” We will continue to accept donations at NSM throughout the holidays for this worthy cause. Every time we have a Showcase, I get nervous as the day of the show approaches, worrying about what detail I might not have prepared for, what item I did not pack, etc. This time, I assured myself that no matter what detail gets missed it would be OK. Because I know from experience, that once the performances start, and then when it is all over, I will be very, very, happy and very proud of each and every person involved in making the Showcase happen. And you know what? That’s exactly what happened!

Student Referrals At Natomas School of Music we appreciate getting referrals from our students and parents. When you refer a new student to us we take it as the highest compliment we can receive. When a person you refer signs up and starts lessons with us, that student will receive one free lesson, and your name and the name of the student you referred, will be placed in a drawing for an additional prize. Our recent drawing was in October. The prize this time was specifically for the students, instead of the parents. Our two winners were Sai Karthik and Pranaov Balaji. They each won a $25 gift card to Walmart. Congratulations Sai and Pranaov! For more information about future drawings, please talk to someone in our Administration Office.

Sold-Out Teachers

Many of our teachers have sold-out schedules on certain days and have limited openings on other days. If you need a schedule change, or would like to be added to the waiting list for a particular teacher, please talk to someone in the administrative office or call the school at 916-575-7603.

Musical Ladder System Here are recent pictures of some of our students receiving their award as they climb up the Musical Ladder System.
