LB/OC SURF & SUN SOFTBALL LEAGUE League Meeting Minutes – January 29, 2014

Call to order @ 8:04pm A. Approval of Minutes from League meeting on November 19, 2013 will be tabled till a later time. B. Financial Report

Checking $7,681 Savings + $7,929 Total $15,610 Mike presented the budget for 2014. He also showed the members a spread sheet on how Players Fees and Team Fees affect the budget. The board with a heavy heart has had to change the Players Fee to $40 up from $15 and the Team Fees to $ 575 up from $500. We have been planning travel early for NAGAAA and ASANA meetings to cut down on costs and are continuing to look at cost saving measures as we go along. Discussion-

Why is the Operating Costs $20,278.82? What is included in this line item? Mike detailed what some of the operating costs are. There was a discussion about the rise in the player’s fee. How can we keep costs down and continue to keep players and the level of play that we currently have?

There was discussion about how our representatives will vote in upcoming issues. During Open breakout Nate will address.

Reports from the Board

E. Updates/Actions of Committees by each Chair

Nate- Ratings- No changes, just some updated verbiage in guidelines. Liberty Classic- There will be a meeting in the next few weeks. Terri- I.O.G.- By Laws are 1/3 of the way rewritten. We will be bringing the changes to the membership in the future. We are cleaning up verbiage making sure they reflect how we operate. Codes of Conduct- are rewritten and we will present those with the By Laws. Mike R. Finance- gave his report earlier Mike V. Calendar- will be emailed out by the next meeting

Spring Ball

We have our dates for the fields Play Days will be on February 23 and March 2. Opening Day will be on March 9

H. Team/Player Fees

Team Fees- $575 due by Sunday, February 23. Player Fees- $40 due by, Sunday March 9.

I. MAL Positions Open J. Pay Pal

Ralph Pleschek has resigned. We need to have an election to fill 3 MAL positions. We now have the ability to use PayPal to pay fees on the website. All fees associated with the use are paid by the payee, about 3%. Money donated to a team is also subject to the fee and will be deducted from the donation.

K. Social Media Eric Santonil is in charge League help wanted

New Facebook page and Twitter.

L. Web site Content/Designer M. 501c3 Application Writer Open forum from the floor

Velvet Lounge- every second Friday will have a table set up to promote Surf and Sun Softball manned by Rafa. OC Center will include our Twitter feed and Facebook page on their Social Media.
