OLMC School Council Meeting Minutes Monday, December 12th Members Present: Sister Maria Benedicta, Tim Fletcher, Liz Dapp, Jim Nies, Joe Lustig, Todd Darland, Dawn Street, Sandra Harrington, Trisha Pecoraro, Abby Ferrettie Opening Prayer: Prepared by Sister Maria Benedicta November meeting minutes approved.

The School Council met on December 12th after our Christmas gathering at the Rectory. We welcomed Abby Ferrettie to her first meeting as a Council Member. She is filling in for Amy Fleming who is out on maternity at this time. Abby is a permanent and welcome addition to the council. We went over the following topics: Principal’s Report – Sister Maria Benedicta • Indiana Dept of Education gave grades based on growth & performance & we received an A. • Second Quarter ends in Jan. • 7th Grade went to IRT • 4th Grade to the State House | Mike Pence was there and they got a picture with Mrs. Pence. • More school tours. Influx of new families to the community. • Mon, Dec. 19th confession opportunity for kids • Mon. Dec 19th Household Community Meeting Principal’s Report –PTO Update

Santa Shop changed to St. Nicholas Shop via Celtic Cross Staff Party being held at Spech’s home Adopt-a-family changed to CommUnity Generosity Classroom

Second Round of MAP Testing being completed o Every student should grow in math and reading Active shooter & ALICE training with school kids o Where do we go? Rectory or Sports Field 8th Grade Trip Finalized Approx. $660 per child depending on how much raised to offset cost. o Plane tickets & hotel booked o Fund raising still underway o Southwest Airlines just finalized itinerary o Only requiring a $150 deposit. First round of evaluations for 9 new staff coming up o They have fit in well and Mentor Relationships are going well. o They are measured by a rubric set by Diocese with 5 different criteria.

All Parish Council Update – Trish Pecoraro • Church Renovation | Cesar Swidan o School Mass moved to gym o Daily mass to St. Thomas Aquinas • All Day Kindergarten is progressing • Handicap Accessibility being updated after church is done.

School Council President, Liz Dapp, then reminded everyone to complete the council survey and return it for January meeting. She also advised that the May School Council meeting may be moved. Finally, she requested updates within each committee. MISSION EFFECTIVENESS | Update from Joe Lustig • Homework Effectiveness for parents • Homework suggestion of the week idea. - Joe will send them out

MARKETING & DEVELOPMENT | Update from Liz Dapp • January 31st Coffee with the Council | Directly after drop off • Goal – to create visibility of council members • Topic Idea | Minimizing Homework Stress • Mrs. McAffee Dawn Steet, Joe Lustig • Be available to answer questions. • Brain based learning seminar coming in Spring o Smiling Mind | Brain Break | Meditation • Homework Messages | Messages in the Mount • Marketing Team | Meet soon on parish level unifying logo for school, open house marketing materials. • School Improvement & Parish Council & Utilize Rita Dekyln TECHNOLOGY UPDATE | Update from Jim Nies • Kindergarten Survey Results o Targeted 3,4, & 5 year old parents (400 families) o Good participation rate 25% o Top Four Things that came out  Full Day Kindergarten option split  People learn about school from school families  After school care is a need and want  Catholic Identity is by far the reason people choose our school
