Numbers will be at the headquarters and can be collected once signed-on. Numbers can be exchanged for tea, coffee, or squash on return. All riders must sign-on at least 30 minutes before their start time. Riders must know the course. Marshalls will indicate the route, but shall neither stop nor direct traffic. ‘Competitors must ride entirely alone and unassisted and not ride in company or take shelter from other riders or vehicles. A competitor overtaking another must pass without receiving or giving shelter. The onus of avoiding company riding shall be upon the rider overtaken’ Cycling Time Trials Regulation No. 18. U-turns are not permitted within sight of the start or finish points, nor on the course. Offenders are liable for disqualification. There are good, quiet roads for warming up near the sign on area. Do not warm up on the course once the event is in progress. Riders must not hassle the timekeepers. In the interests of your own safety, Cycling Time Trials and Oxford University Cycling Club strongly advise you to wear a hard shell helmet that meets an internationally accepted safety standard. BUCS Competitors must have provided proof of BUCS eligibility before signing on; those who do not shall be moved into the open event. BUCS Competitors must be able to provide, upon request, valid Student ID cards.
Course Details http://g.co/maps/85nyz Start on the corner of the slip road leading from the B4017 on to the A420, five yards east of lamp post 4. Proceed along the slip road to join the A420 west bound (care needed). Take second exit at the first roundabout (2.2 miles) and continue west along the A420. At second roundabout, take second exit (5.4miles), continuing west along the A420. Continue on the A420 to the third roundabout (13 miles) and turn around, taking the third exit to return eastwards along the A420. Retrace route, taking the second exit at the first roundabout met, and the first exit at the second roundabout met. The finish is 1.2 miles after the final roundabout, towards the top of a hill about 363 yards east of the bus stop lay-by at the bottom and four yards east of and beyond the road sign ‘Oxford A420, Cumnor 1½ Miles’, four yards west of a drain and almost opposite the centre of the upper of two roads on the west leading to Wootton. Course Notes -
The course is well surfaced on the whole with no substantial potholes along the left hand tyre track throughout. Marshals will be present at the roundabouts on the course, but it is the rider’s responsibility to know the course.
