SERVICE OF THE WORD Scripture Reading John 5:20-30

A my C a r l s o n

Backstage: Jesus: A Year of Obscurity The Gift of Life (John 5:16-30)—The religious people of Jesus’s day consistently seemed to struggle with the balance between religious rules and traditions on the one hand, and life lived to out according to God’s character on the other. In this case, Jesus was criticized for acting to help other people on the Sabbath. Jesus’s response reminds us that if our traditions and rules get in the way of our caring for, loving, and sharing with other people, we might need to reconsider. The challenge is always a difficult one, but in Jesus is Life, and we are to be HIS ambassadors first.

Kingdom Care (paid childcare) has part-time positions available. Hours are flexible and include Sunday, Monday and Thursday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and special events. Vástago de Gracia is the new Spanish-language worship service that meets in the Chapel during the 9:30 hour every Sunday! All are welcome to join. Vástago de Gracia es el nuevo servicio de adoración en español que se reune en la capilla a las 9:30 de la mañana los domingos. ¡Todos son bienvenidos!
