Welcome to Spring Hills! A note from our Senior Pastor

Greetings! We are so glad you are here and thank you for your interest in the ministries of Spring Hills Baptist Church. We are looking forward with great expectation to all that God will do through the many ministries noted in this booklet. It is our hope that you will listen for God’s lead and sense His direction for your life as you browse through this directory. You may be looking for a place to use your gifts in service or a place to grow through the various study opportunities. We have many fellowship opportunities planned throughout the year that will encourage new friendships and make way for a whole lot of fun! Please don’t hesitate to contact any one of our pastors or ministry leaders with questions about these opportunities. Also, be sure to check the website for updates and further information. In Christ,

Tom Pound

TheCity & RightNow Media RightNow Media and TheCity help us “do church” 24/7! Connect on TheCity:

The city social app is one tool we are using at Spring Hills to stay more connected to current and relevant events happening in the life of our congregation. Communication must be frequent and somewhat fluid to truly be effective in today’s world. The City is helping you better communicate with church leaders and each other. In a matter of seconds you can let your church family know about your grandmother’s health, or inquire about a friend’s job interview, and even sign up to provide a meal for a grieving family. If you have not given the City a try yet, we encourage you to check it out. It is a powerful tool in helping us all stay more connected.

Bible study takes a lot of different forms these days. You may attend a Bible study on our church campus, or in the home of a friend. There may be times when the hectic schedule of life prevents you from getting there. That is where RightNow Media can help you. At Spring Hills, we want everyone to have a meaningful connection to God’s Word. That is how transformation happens! This online Bible study library is accessible anywhere and anytime. You can hear excellent teachers and pastors when you have free time, even if it is at 5 a.m. Set up your free account soon to gain access to thousands of online Bible studies. ministry teams Crisis Ministry Prayer Chain

As Jesus told His followers: “… whatever you ask in My Name, that I will do, so that the Father is Glorified in the Son” [John 14:13] We too, desire to Glorify the Father through His Son, our Savior – Jesus. Thus, in an effort to both manage the challenge, and maintain vigilance, we have developed a core of individuals who intercede on behalf of critical, crisis and otherwise urgent needs from within and outside of our body. This “Chain of Prayer” can be accessed by contacting our church office or our SHBC website. Contact: Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick, [email protected] 740.587.1200 x121

Prayer Events

Spring Hills Prayer Events are set aside times of focused, strategic prayer. They usually cover a set period of time, where people are encouraged to come and pray in unity around a certain theme or issue. We are seeking to continue to grow as a people of prayer. Jesus reiterated this when He quoted the Scriptures saying, “My House shall be called a House of Prayer!”

Host Team Our host team is instrumental in creating an atmosphere where every person is greeted and guests feel welcome. We are looking for individuals and families who want to help others feel welcome by making lasting impressions that connect people to the church and to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. There are opportunities to serve on our host teams for each of our services. You can choose to serve once a month, twice a month or more depending on your schedule. Host team members meet together 30 minutes before the service when they serve. Services: Time: Location: Contact:

Children’s Ministry Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)

birth - kindergarten

Wee Ones - Preschool Nursery Date: Every Saturday evening, Sunday morning, and Sunday evening Time: Sat, 6:00pm; Sun, 9:00am, 11:00am, 6:00pm Location: Spring Hills Baptist Church - Preschool Wing Contact: Dan & Brittany Pound, 740.587.1200 x302 [email protected] Our Nursery, Pre-K, and Kindergarten ministry is a high energy, kingdom centered zone offered during weekend services and various other ministries of SHBC. The Kid Zone hallway is themed as a Kids Town offering an exciting place for children to visit and learn about Jesus! In Wee Worship children sing, dance and participate in interactive Bible lessons. Children will also have time for prayer, crafts and offering, which supports Jesse, our Compassion International child. The fun continues with snack, a visit to Playland and the occasional diaper change. But none of these ministry tasks are done without the Love of Jesus. Security If you leave your child in our care, you will receive a badge with your child’s number on it when you arrive and you must have that badge to pick up your child when you return after the service. If your child is in need, you will be notified using the LCD screen below the sermon screen in the sanctuary. Our team promises to provide a safe and clean environment for your child to have fun and grow spiritually.

Volunteers Needed for Wee Ones Preschool Nursery

We need 108 volunteers to serve a total of 6 times each in 2017. Please reach out to Dan and Brittany Pound if you would like to fill one of our volunteer positions. Volunteers have a variety of ways to pick up the call to raise a generation for the kingdom. They can serve in a color room, donate snacks, greet both parents and children, teach, read, play, serve snacks, play music or act out Bible skits. Jesus couldn’t help but immerse Himself in the lives of children, as seen in Matthew 19:14 “Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”, and we embrace the call of God to love His children and raise them up to know, experience and love God.

AWANA AWANA – an acronym intending to remind us that: “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed”, has been bringing the Truth of God’s Word to thousands and thousands of children, ages 3-12, at Spring Hills Baptist for 20 + years! This International Children’s Outreach & Discipleship Program is offered here each Wednesday of the school year, from 6:15 – 8 pm. This year alone we saw children receive Christ as personal Savior, grow in love with Him and His Word, share their budding faith and “hide” hundreds upon hundreds of Bible verses in their hearts that they “may not sin against Him!!” Each week, between 150-190 students & leaders, gather corporately for prayer, verse recitation, games and crafts. Highlights of the year also included our LOCAL MISSION OUTREACH (that collected over $1,000 for missions), the Grand Prix Car Kit Race and visits from Missionaries, Pastors and Special Guests! Emerge Young Adult Ministry

Emerge is the young adult/college ministry at Spring Hills. We are a community of young adults who are seeking the Kingdom of God together, as disciples of Jesus and children of our Heavenly Father. Emerge Gatherings Emerge gatherings are monthly meetings where young adult who are seeking God meet in fellowship, worship and prayer to encounter the Lord. Typically, we eat a meal together, pray for each other, share testimonies and sing to the Lord together. We end with a time of communion and listening to the Lord. Emerge gatherings currently meet in a house at 624 Llanberris Drive, Granville, Ohio. We meet the last Sunday of each month. Emerge Discipleship We believe that if you “follow Jesus closely, you will find yourself walking with God.” Emerge discipleship is our intentional obedience to the Lord’s commission to “make disciples.” We seek to be accountable to a smaller band of brothers or sisters, to follow in the steps of Jesus. Our heart is to see disciples making disciples who live lives that imitate the life of Jesus and are fueled by the life of Jesus. full color logo & badge

Small Groups Small groups are vital in the overall vision of “Building Generations for Jesus Christ.” We live in a world connected by mobile devices and social media. However, intentional connections and community with friends, neighbors, and families are still needed, and we believe the best place for spiritual transformation to take place is in community. Small groups provide opportunities for people to connect with others and to move beyond casual relationships to authentic community where people are known, loved, and challenged to grow spiritually. If you are interested in getting more information about joining a group, contact Pastor Tevis Austin at [email protected] or at 740-587-1200 ext. 113.
