Pacers withstand stubborn Wizards By The Associated Press INDIANAPOLIS — Good enough to beat the Wizards, not good enough to satisfy Paul George. George had SPORTS 29 points and NOTEBOOK 14 rebounds, leading the Indiana Pacers to an 89-81 victory over Washington on Wednesday night. “I’m glad we got this win but we’ve got to look past this,” George said. “We didn’t do a good enough job executing. “Luckily we made enough shots to win, but we didn’t do a good job at all of executing. We let them pressure us and get us out of stuff; we play tough teams and that’s not going to fly.” The Wizards (4-26) came into the game with the NBA’s worst record, and had lost eight straight against the Central Division-leading Pacers (19-13). A strong start by the Pacers helped ensure another loss for the Wizards. The Pacers opened with an 8-0 run and led by as many as 17 points in the first quarter. After falling behind 24-7, the Wizards took advantage of Indiana’s turnovers and cold shooting to pull within 38-35 with 5:16 to play in the first half. The Pacers had six turnovers and shot just 7-of-22 from the field in the second quarter but still led 47-39 at the break. A 10-4 run to start the third quarter brought the Wizards within 51-49, prompting a timeout by Pacers coach Frank Vogel. The Pacers responded with a 12-4 run over the next 6:27 to regain a double-digit lead. Roy Hibbert added 13 points for the Pacers, who won their sixth straight home game. Ian Mahinmi added nine points and 11 rebounds. Kelly to interview with Bills BUFFALO, N.Y. — Oregon coach Chip Kelly won’t have much time to rest after the Fiesta Bowl. On Friday, Kelly has an interview scheduled with the Buffalo Bills for their coaching vacancy, a person familiar with the coach’s plans confirmed late Wednesday. The interview will take place in Arizona, a day after the fifthranked Ducks play Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl. Jets ignore NFL’s media policy NEW YORK — The New York Jets have violated the NFL’s media policy by not making coach Rex Ryan or other team executives available within a week of the end of the regular season. Ryan and owner Woody Johnson will meet with the media on Jan. 8. The season ended Sunday, Dec. 30. Clippers owner’s son dies LOS ANGELES — The son of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was found dead of an apparent drug overdose at his Malibu home, authorities said. The body of 32-year-old Scott Ashley Sterling was found shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles County coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz said. The 77-year-old Donald Sterling, a billionaire real estate mogul who purchased the team in 1981, and wife Shelley released a statement thanking friends for sympathy, asking for privacy and saying their son was diabetic, but did not indicate what role, if any, that may have played in his death.
