A TYPICAL

High-Purity Research Chemicals Complete sets of the most popular analytical samples, called libraries, packaged in conveniently labeled styrofoam display trays are now available. They are designed for the analytical chemist for his use in GLC, ir, uv, nmr, and mass spectrometry. The sets (1 ml for liquids and 1 g for solids) are drawn from a total analytical list ing of 800 hydrocarbons, 150 ketones, and 370 alcohols. Liquids are sealed under nitrogen in snap-top ampoules; solids are in screw-top vials. Hydro carbons are offered in 1 ml or 1 g units; alcohols and ketones in 2 ml or 2 g units. Actual mole % purity is on each ampoule. Twenty-one actual sets are available with 10 to 37 units each. The company's C-3 catalog gives details of these sets. Silylation makes possible the gas chromatographic analysis of thousands of compounds n o t formerly amenable t o GC and eases the problems of the GC analysis of many other polar substances. Most silylation techniques are rapid and easy, transforming many intractable substances into volatile and thermally stable trimethylsilyl ethers that give symmetrical GC peaks. We have just published a 60 page " H a n d b o o k of S i l y l a t i o n " that is a gold mine of information on silylation and other special techniques of gas phase analysis. It contains a wealth of practical suggestions, methods, references, data on reagents and accessories. " H a n d b o o k of S i l y l a t i o n " is yours for the asking; drop us a note—today.
