SCRIPTURE Acts 1:4-11 (NKJV)

The Holy Spirit Promised 4

And

being

assembled

together

with

them,

He

commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

6

Therefore, when they had come

together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[a]in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Jesus Ascends to Heaven 9

Now when He had spoken these things, while they

watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

10

And while they looked steadfastly toward

heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

11

who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do

you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” 4

CHURCH COVENANT LEADER:

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the LORD Jesus Christ as our Savior; and on the profession of our faith we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

CONG:

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every other organization of human origin.

LEADER:

To contribute cheerfully and regularly as God has prospered us, toward the support of the ministry, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.

CONG:

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study the word of God; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance.

LEADER:

To walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our service.

CONG:

We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort each other unto every good word and work; to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other’s joys, bear one another’s sorrows; and to cultivate Christian courtesy;

LEADER:

To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Savior to secure it without delay.

ALL:

When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible to unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s word. 5

“The tenth shall be holy unto the Lord.” Leviticus 27:32 Every Christian should strive to learn how to be a cheerful giver. When we give what does it actually mean? It simply means we, cheerfully give to God our tithes and offerings. Tithing honors God. Are you giving the Lord His tithes or your tips? The word tithe means to give back to God one tenth of your earnings for the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.
