shopping you can get discount on is pro-rated, based on when you get your card. Privilegecard is one of our most valued benefits and enables colleagues to get 10% off their shopping at Tesco up to the value of £1000 each year.
This policy is for all colleagues and outlines:
who is eligible for a Privilegecard; when you can get your Privilegecard; how to get a second card for a family member you live with; and who is eligible for a Privilegecard for Life when they leave Tesco
We have the right to discontinue the Scheme or any element of it, or vary the rules in any way, and will let you know if any changes occur.
If you have an additional card, it is linked to your primary card, so your joint discount remains at £1,000. Your Privilegecard is for you and it can only be used by the person named on it. Any purchases made using your Privilegecard should be for your own personal use i.e. your weekly food shop or a TV for your home from Tesco Direct. You can buy items which can be shared with friends or a gift e.g. chocolates, but your discount should not be used to buy goods to sell to other people, or to obtain discounted goods for someone else which they then pay you for. You are responsible for ensuring both cards are used in line with this policy. If you provide a second card to someone who doesn’t follow the policy, it may result in disciplinary action which could lead to your dismissal. You need to have your card with you when you are buying anything and want to claim your discount.
Current colleagues on the Tesco payroll who are over the age of 16 and have at least 6 months' continuous service with Tesco will be sent a Privilegecard. Cards and details of the scheme are automatically sent to you at the home address we hold on our company records. If you are an eligible and current Tesco colleague employed by Tesco plc or Tesco Bank, you can order a second card for a family member. A “family member” is any relative, partner, civil partner, spouse or carer of yours who is over 18 years old and lives permanently with you at the address we hold for you on company records. One of the two cards must be in your name. Your Privilegecards are intended for your benefit as a Tesco colleague, and are designed to allow you to save money on your shopping so can only be used by the person named on them and anything purchased must be for personal use (as outlined in section 3). As the colleague, you are responsible for ensuring both cards are used in line with this policy. If you provide a second card to someone who doesn’t follow the policy, it may result in disciplinary action which could lead to your dismissal.

day. The card for life will be automatically issued in the name of the person on your primary card. If you have a Privilegecard for Life and you pass away, this benefit will transfer to your partner or spouse. Resigning or being dismissed, including due to ill health, will make you ineligible for a Privilegecard for Life.
Providing this benefit is a significant investment for Tesco, and we take any abuse of our scheme very seriously. The Tesco Security team monitor the use of Privilegecards for any signs of abuse and will report any suspicious activity via the Staff Discount team. Any card can be confiscated at the till point for not complying with this policy, these will be automatically cancelled and investigated further.
