Psalm 63 – More God LifeGroup Questions 1. Hebrews 12:1-2 talks about the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on in our race of faith. Who are some of the witnesses cheering you on? Who are some of your heroes of the faith? Who are some of the people whose life of prayer has inspired you?

2. Psalm 63:1-4 talks about David’s thirst and hunger for God. What is something (other than God) for which you have thirsted?

3. Share about a time in your life when you were very hungry and thirsty for more God, more Christ, more of His Spirit. Why were you hungry for God? What your hunger cause you to do?

4. What phrases, or descriptions in Psalm 63:1-4 connect with you the most. Why?

5. Dan quoted John Piper (see below) who talked about God’s gifts being an enemy to thirst for more of God. Then he (Dan) encouraged us to look at our own prayer life. Sometimes what we find ourselves always asking God to give us…might be the gift that we are going after for life. Which gifts of God do you hunger for almost as much as you hunger for God? Quote: The greatest adversary of love to God is not his enemies but his gifts. And the most deadly appetites are not for the poison of evil, but for the simple pleasures of earth. For when these replace an appetite for God himself, the idolatry is scarcely recognizable, and almost incurable.

6. If it’s true that nothing will satisfy our souls like the steadfast love of God, then we will cling to him. What does it look like in your life to cling to God? What is coming between you and God that makes it difficult to cling?

7. Read John 6:35 and Revelation 21:5-6. What our souls seek, what our hearts crave, what our minds were made to ponder is Christ. Christ is more than enough. What can you do this week to satisfy your soul at the banquet table of Christ?

8. Was there anything else that impacted you from the message or the journal this week?
