Q & A – 20% Privilegecard discount Friday 23 October to Thursday 29 October You must have worked for Tesco for at least six months to qualify for the double discount.

General Questions  When does the 20% Privilegecard discount start? After 6am on Friday 23 October 2015.  When does the 20% Privilegecard discount end? After 11pm on Thursday 29 October 2015.  What about returns and refunds? We can refund any items bought in-store or online during the double discount period, however we will not honour the 20% discount on any products purchased after 11pm on Thursday 29 October 2015. 

An item I bought during the 20% Privilegecard discount is faulty, can I exchange the item or get a refund? Yes, you can return the item for an exchange or refund. As per the existing store and online processes, the value of the refund will be the value you paid after your 20% Privilegecard discount was deducted. 

I bought an item within 28 days prior to Double Discount starting; can I be refunded the additional 10% discount. As the Privilegecard discount is a colleague benefit and not a price change there are a number of categories where the additional 10% discount will not be refunded. These categories are Clothing, Wine by the Case and Grocery Home Shopping (including GM products bought through GHS). For Tesco direct we will only honour the price difference should the customer advise us to process a return so they can rebuy the product. This must only be done with Duty Manager authorisation. We will not honour the difference if the product is now out of stock or originally purchased on a promotion, as you will not receive 20% discount on the promotion price. 

If I do not have a Privilegecard yet (i.e. I have not served six months at Tesco/my card is lost or stolen), can I still take part in the offer? If you have not yet qualified for a Privilegecard as you have less than six months service you will not be able to take part in the offer. If you do have a Privilegecard but it is lost, stolen, or damaged, you should ask your People Manager to order you a new card or you can request a replacement card here. If you have not received your new Privilegecard in time to use it during the double discount period, you will need to keep your receipts, get them signed by the Store Manager or People Manager in store, and take them back to the customer service desk once your new card has arrived to get your 20% discount refunded. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer the discount online without a valid Privilegecard.

How do I get a new Privilegecard if my card has been lost or stolen?

As mentioned above, please speak to your People Manager who will fill in a form to notify the Colleague Discount team that your card has been lost or stolen and that you require a replacement. You can also order a replacement card yourself by downloading the replacement Privilegecard form on OurTesco here and send it to the Colleague Discount team. Your card should take 3-4 weeks to arrive.  What should I do if my Privilegecard has expired and I have not received my new one? Although we try to ensure that new cards reach colleagues before their old cards expire, we are aware that sometimes this doesn’t happen. If this happens during the double discount period, in order to claim your Privilegecard discount when your card arrives, please keep your receipts and get them signed in store. When your card arrives please take them to the Customer Service desk where you will get a refund of your discount.  What happens to my 20% discount if I have hit my Privilegecard cap? If you have hit your Privilegecard cap for this year you will not be able to get your regular 10% discount, however you will be able to receive the additional 10% discount from the double discount as this is not included in contributing to your cap. You will need to contact the colleague helpline on 0800 012 1592 to get your additional 10% discount refunded.

What’s excluded from the double discount?  Normal Privilegecard exclusions Tobacco products, saving stamps, lottery, gift cards, postage stamps, prescription medicines, infant formula milk, items from non-Tesco owned pharmacies, travel money, insurance and fuel.  Alcohol Due to minimum pricing laws, we have had to exclude a small number of alcohol lines from the Privilegecard discount, this includes the 20%discount. See the appendix for a full list of excluded products. You can still enjoy a 20% discount for all other BWS lines.  Third party sellers on Tesco direct When shopping on Tesco direct, check whether the seller is a third party (including Tesco partners) as they are not included in the Privilegecard scheme and no discount will apply. Clubcard Points are still available.  Tesco Bank The additional discount does not apply to any Tesco Bank products or services.  Tesco Mobile Privilegecard discount is available on all Pay As You Go products purchased online or in-store, but excludes monthly contract tariff purchases. • Giraffe, Decks, One Stop, Harris + Hoole, and NutriCentre We are pleased to be able to include colleagues working in all of our extended brands into the Privilegecard scheme. While all Privilegecard holders can claim a 10% discount on purchases in Giraffe, Decks, One Stop, Harris + Hoole, and NutriCentre, please note that the double discount will not apply in these areas.  Tesco Subscriptions Tesco Subscriptions www.tescosubscriptions.com and Delivery Saver (Grocery Home Shopping) are not included in the double discount.

 What if something I would like to purchase is unavailable/out of stock? You will only be able to purchase goods/services that are in stock during the seven days the 20% discount is live. All our product lines are sold on a ‘when it’s gone, it’s gone’ basis, including branded tablets, so please do be aware that availability is limited.

Additional Privilegecard information  Who gets the Privilegecard? All Tesco, One Stop, Giraffe, Decks, Harris & Hoole, Euphorium Bakery, NutriCentre, Café, Oakwood, Tesco Underwriting Ltd, Tesco Maintenance and Dunnhumby colleagues are given a Privilegecard when they have six months continuous service. It is our way of saying thank you for your loyalty and hard work. 

If I do not have a Privilegecard yet (i.e. I have not served six months at Tesco/my card is lost or stolen), can I still take part in the offer? If you have not yet qualified for a Privilegecard as you have less than six months service you will not be able to take part in the offer. If you are a current Privilegecard holder but don’t have your card as it has been lost or stolen, please follow the steps shown in the ‘How do I get a new Privilegecard if my card has been lost or stolen?’ process described above. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer the discount online without a valid Privilegecard.  Will this affect my annual Privilegecard discount limit? The additional 10% discount used during the seven day period will not go towards your Privilegecard cap.  What happens if I’ve used the full allocation of my Privilegecard allowance? You can receive a discount up to the value of £800 each year (pro-rated for new Privilegecard holders). After this amount you can still use your card to earn Clubcard points. Once your full yearly allowance has been used up, you will not be entitled to any further discount on products in-store or online.  Will the amount of Clubcard points awarded be affected by the increased discount? The number of Clubcard points awarded will be determined on the total spend after the 20% Privilegecard discount is applied.  How will fraudulent activity on Privilegecards during this period be dealt with? The Store Manager has absolute discretion to disallow any transaction if he/she believes its use would be contrary to the purpose of the Scheme. If anyone breaks the rules of the Tesco Colleague Privilegecard Scheme they may be disqualified from the Scheme and depending on the circumstances, may be liable to disciplinary procedures which could include summary dismissal. This is in line with current policy on fraudulent activity on Privilegecards.

Online Shopping  Returns and refunds We can refund any items bought in-store or online during the double discount period, however we will not honour the 20% discount on any products purchased after 11pm on Thursday 29 October.  Third party sellers on Tesco direct When shopping online, check whether the seller is a third party (including Tesco partners) as they are not included in the Privilegecard scheme and the discount will not apply.

Appendix 1 – Alcohol Alcohol products excluded from the double discount event Due to laws around alcohol pricing, there are a small number of alcohol products which cannot be included in your normal Privilegecard discount and are also excluded from your double discount. The prices on some products are so low that if we apply a discount we would be selling the product for less than the legal minimum price (duty plus VAT minimum price). Consequently we have removed the lines below from the discount scheme. You can still enjoy your discount on all other alcohol products.
