WEEK OF APRIL 14 - 20, 2019 Principal's Message - Forget What is Behind I loved going to summer camp when I was a kid. We had so much fun outdoors playing all kinds of games and sports. One summer, we spent much of our time playing football. It seemed like a good idea at the time. The problem was that there were several trees between the cabins where we were playing. During one particular game I ran out for a pass and was looking back at the quarterback. I didn’t turn around quickly enough and I ran smack into a tree. It is not a good idea to look backwards when you are running. The same holds true in our lives of faith. If we are going to live our lives for Jesus, we can’t be looking back. This can only cause us to lose direction and get us into trouble. However, that is easier said than done. It is so easy for us to look back either in pride or regret. At times we look back in pride and admire all the wonderful things we have done. At other times we look back and despair over how terrible our sins are, and we are lled with guilt and regret. Either way, we are prevented from focusing on the goal. Rather than look behind, God’s Word encourages us to keep our eyes ahead and focus on our Savior, Jesus. He lived, died, and rose again to take all our sins away and to give us the free gift of eternal life in heaven. Our past accomplishments cannot save us, and our past sins have been washed away in the blood of Jesus. So, forget what is behind and focus on the heavenly goal that Jesus has won for you!

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Update from Mr. Ash's classroom Our class has been busy this spring. They have been practicing track in P.E. so they are familiar with certain track and eld events. The students have been working on memorizing the 50 states and capitals of the United States. They are beginning to work on their U.S. State projects. The students will be preparing a written report and an oral presentation using a visual aide such as a display board, PowerPoint, or model. They will be giving their presentations to the class on Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6. We will be going bowling three times in May to learn the game for P.E. class. Finally, our end of the year eld trips will be to the beach and Boomers. We will be working hard and having fun together over the nal few weeks of school. God has given us many blessings this year in our classroom, and we pray for more to nish out the school year.

NEW PRESCHOOL PLAYGROUND HELP NEEDED! As you have probably noticed, the preschool playground has been desperately in need of an upgrade. The good news is that we have all the equipment for the new outdoor play area. Now, we just need to get the volunteers to help put the apparatus together. The preschoolers have been waiting long enough for their new playground. We are asking for a few hours of your time to help install the new jungle gym. Your effort will be rewarded by a smile on a 3 or 4 year old’s face, and Miss Brigetta’s too! After talking with several people, we feel the best time to install the new equipment would be Saturday, April 13th after the Easter Fest. If you are available for a few hours or know anyone who would like to volunteer a few hours of their time for a great cause, please contact Brigetta Guelker by email at [email protected] or by text or phone at 951-520-3390. Remember, many hands make light work. Thank you in advance for your help.

Sports Update Track season continues for grades 1-8. There were sign-up sheets that were handed out. If your child needs another track sign-up sheet, please ask your child's teacher for another copy. If you would like your child to participate on the track team and compete in the track meet, please sign the track sheet and return it to your child's teacher by Friday, April 19. The track practices will be during P.E. times during the school day. The track meet will be on Saturday May 4, beginning at 9:30 A.M. and running until about 2:00 P.M. The track meet will be held at Rancho Alamitos High School located at 11351 Dale Street, Garden Grove, CA 92841. Thank you for supporting our Reformation Raiders Track Team!

#RefTechTips Kahoot is a fun site that we occasionally use to help review in the upper grades. Kahoot is a site were questions are posed on the screen and students log in to a website on their chromebooks or computers. The quicker that students are able to answer questions the more points they get. You can also make

Holy Week Worship Services — We invite you to join us for: Maundy Thursday Worship with Holy Communion — Thursday, April 18, 7:00pm Good Friday Tenebrae Worship — Friday, April 19, 7:00pm Good Friday is the solemn celebration of our Lord’s suffering and death on the cross. The focus is on the ful llment of God’s promises in Jesus’ death, which is the full payment for the sins of the world. While the service is solemn and serious, there is also a sense of restrained joy at the ultimate goodness of the day’s events. Our service will focus on the ful llment of God’s promises in the death of Jesus Christ, which is the full payment for the world’s sin, as part of a Tenebrae service (“Tenebrae” is Latin for “darkness”). Seven candles will be lit at the beginning of the service. After each reading, a candle is extinguished. After the nal reading, the church is in darkness as we remember our Lord’s death on the cross on Good Friday for our salvation. Easter Festival Worship — Sunday, April 21, 8:00am & 10:30am The true story of Easter isn’t about candy, bunnies, or eggs. It’s about Jesus’ death on the cross and his miraculous resurrection that changed everything. This Easter at Reformation, we are celebrating that the cross was not the end of the story—but that the resurrection brought us all forgiveness, hope and a fresh start. The good news of Easter is that the story does not end at the cross. The good news of Easter is that the story does not end at a grave. The good news of Easter is that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, never to die again. He lives! His story will never end! And connected to him, neither will yours! Join us this Easter for uplifting worship. Together we will gather around Jesus’ empty tomb, because that’s where this amazing, true story continues. “Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia!” Easter Breakfast — Sunday, April 21 at 9:15am Join us in the gym for Easter breakfast and Christian fellowship.
