Raiders (Concluded from Page 23) six offensive rebounds and laid it back in with eight seconds left to give Southridge a 32-23 edge heading into halftime. In almost mirrored fashion to what Heritage Hills accomplished the night before, Paoli began clicking in the second half thanks to 16 points from guard Skyler Stroud. The senior guard went 4-of-6 from 3-point land and finished with a game-high 23 points. Stroud dropped in a floater from just inside the lane at 5:28 to give Paoli its 50-49 lead before Julian’s clutch 3. Paoli turned it over on a double-dribble the following possession, and then Connor Craig drove in from the right side, saw the Paoli defense swarming and found a wide-open Cam O’Bryan, who connected on a 3-pointer for a 55-50 lead with 4:47 to play. Then, the Raiders administered the best defense against a potent Paoli squad — they held on to the ball. Southridge conducted a twominute-plus possession in which the Rams committed five fouls, the final on Chad O’Bryan after Craig found the senior all alone under the basket. “Layups and free throws; we were ready to put it away and make them come out and guard us,” Rauch said. O’Bryan sank 1-of-2 from the line, Paoli missed a 3 on its next

possession and the Raiders made 8-of-8 free throws in the last 45 seconds. It was another example of the type of gritty, confident basketball Southridge has exhibited in the past week. After averaging 53.7 points per contest in their first 10 games, the Raiders have reached 66, 67 and 66 in three straight wins. “We’ve matured a lot since the beginning of the year,” Julian said. “We learned how to handle pressure and use it to our advantage and win ballgames.” Thompson netted 15 points and nine rebounds, Chad O’Bryan responded to his lowest offensive outing of the season against Heritage Hills with 14 points, and Craig scored nine points with four assists. The schedule will continue to test Southridge with an upcoming weekend homestand against county rival Forest Park (8-5, 4-0) — riding a four-game win streak — and Class 2A No. 9 Crawford County (9-2). “We’re right in the middle of the most brutal part of our schedule because it doesn’t get any easier,” Rauch said. “The only thing we can do is win the game that night. And all three (opponents over the last week) came in with only one loss and we outplayed all three of those teams, and I think we just keep getting better.”
