Jasper team to be honored JASPER — Jasper will celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the 1989 boys basketball sectional championship team at Saturday’s boys basketball game against Southridge. The ceremony will take place between the junior varsity and varsity games.

The competition is open to all boys and girls ages 9-14, and plaques will be awarded to the winners of each age group for girls and boys. Winners will move on to compete in the district competition.

Ferdinand free throw competition planned FERDINAND — The Christ the King Parish Knights of Columbus council is hosting a free throw competition on Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Ferdinand Elementary School Gymnasium. Doors open for registration at noon, with competition set to start at 12:30 p.m. Any boy or girl ages 9-14 is eligible to compete. There will be divisions for each age group, with separate groups for boys and girls. There will be a trophy for the winner, and they will advance to the district K of C competition in February.
