WHAT THE FAMILY RETREAT MEANS TO ME - by Nancy Omonte

The Endowment Committee is looking for a couple new members to join their team. If you have interest in fundraising and have a passion for helping to build a lasting legacy of faith, you may be interested in becoming a team player on this committee. Endowment gifts allow us to reach goals and dreams beyond the scope of the annual stewardship giving. If you think you have interest please contact Rick Boe, chairperson at 239-949-6542 or send him an email at [email protected]

Reconnection with loved ones, nature and faith. These three words come to mind when thinking about Emmanuel’s Family Retreat. I am an active member of ELC, wife and mother of two lively children ages 10 and 12! I also work full time in the Lee County Public Schools. About four years ago, we attended for the first time, and have now made it our family tradition. When you attend this retreat, you can expect to make a deeper connection with your family and other church members. We have campfires, organized activities and peaceful times with nature. You can unplug and truly enjoy time by yourself rejuvenating in the woods or connecting with new and old friends through small group activities. We enjoy the meals that are homemade, bountiful and fresh. At the end of the weekend, we all silently walk to the middle of the woods and have our Sunday Worship Service surrounded by trees and birds chirping. If you are looking for a way to reconnect as a family, couple or just yourself, I highly recommend this fun, yet peaceful weekend away in the woods! (See above information to attend this year.)
