Capital Campaign Reception – Sunday, June 3rd Please join us on Sunday, June 3 after our 10:15 am service for our Renew, Rejoice, Restore Capital Campaign reception. At this reception, the vision and goals of our campaign will be shared, discussed, and questions answered. We hope that you will be able to join us as we officially kick off our campaign. A lunch will be provided and childcare is available. Good Book Club Adult Forum meets Sunday, May 27th Please join us for the Good Book Club in the Common Room after both services Sunday, May 27th. This will be the final wrap up of our Readings for Luke and Acts. The Good Book Club Continues with Ephesians on June 10th ! We've decided to continue reading and discussing the Bible as a church. Our next book is Paul's letter to the Ephesians. We will split the readings over two weeks, starting June 10. Next Bookworms 10 am on June 2nd in the Conference Rm. We will meet on the first Saturday of June in the Conference Room next to the Church Office for our last meeting of the spring season. Our book is “Pachinko” by Min Jin Lee, a sweeping multigenerational saga about one Korean family making its way in Japan. It is one of the 10 Best Books for 2017 by the New York Times Book Review. FEET and FANNIES! The Women of Saint Dunstan's has stepped up to the plate at the request of the Falls Church McLean Children's Center to participate in a CLOTHING DRIVE for the preschool children. They are requesting underwear and socks size 2T-6T and new or used child sneakers size 712. We are calling this drive FEET AND FANNIES and request that you put donations into the baskets beneath the tables in the back of the church. Let's go for 100% participation! Pentecost Sunday at St. Dunstan’s – A Festive Flare

WHO WILL BE THE 2018 TONGUES OF FIRE CHILI COOK-OFF WINNER?

CONGRATULATIONS Rite 13 Class-Tongues of Fire Chili Winners!

Rite 13 wanted to use a lambbased chili because it reflects the time of Christ. They also wanted to have 13 seasonings to reflect the 13 in Rite 13. This recipe has the lamb, and it has 9 dried spices (with salt & pepper), 3 kinds of peppers, and cilantro--making 13 seasonings.  The group added to ingredients according to taste.  

Jesus Time Chili Recipe • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

2 medium onions, diced 1 jalapeno pepper, diced, 1 green chili pepper diced, 1 poblano pepper, diced 1.5 lb lean ground lamb, 0.5 lb lean ground beef 4 chorizo sausages, casings removed 6 garlic cloves, minced 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes 2 teaspoons dried oregano 2 teaspoons cayenne 1 ⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon , 1 teaspoon coriander 8 tablespoons chili powder 3 bay leaves 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce 1 (40.5 ounce) can red beans, rinsed and drained 1 tablespoon salt, or more to taste - 2 teaspoons pepper, or more to taste 1/4 bunch fresh cilantro, minced

Coat a large, heavy-bottomed stock pot with spray oil and heat; cook onions, and peppers until onions are translucent, Add ground lamb, ground beef, and chorizo and cook over medium heat. When onions are soft and meat browned; drain well. Add garlic and season with red pepper flakes, oregano, cumin, cayenne, cinnamon, coriander, chili powder, bay leaf, and salt and pepper to taste. Sauté for 1 to 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and beans; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer for 30 minutes. Add cilantro and simmer another 15 minutes.

After winning the Tongues of Fire Cook-Off with Jesus Time Chili, our youth experienced the National Geographic Exhibit of Christ’s Tomb.
