WHAT THE FAMILY RETREAT MEANS TO ME - by Nancy Omonte

Reconnection with loved ones, nature and faith. These three words come to mind when thinking about Emmanuel’s Family Retreat. I am an active member of ELC, wife and mother of two lively children ages 10 and 12! I also work full time in the Lee County Public Schools. About four years ago, we attended for the first time, and have now made it our family tradition.

When you attend this retreat, you can expect to make a deeper connection with your family and other church members. We have campfires, organized activities and peaceful times with nature. You can unplug and truly enjoy time by yourself rejuvenating in the woods or connecting with new and old friends through small group activities. We enjoy the meals that are homemade, bountiful and fresh. At the end of the weekend, we all silently walk to the middle of the woods and have our Sunday Worship Service surrounded by trees and birds chirping. If you are looking for a way to reconnect as a family, couple or just yourself, I highly recommend this fun, yet peaceful weekend away in the woods! (See above information to attend this year.)
