PRESIDENTS COMMENTS

REDEVELOPMENT

As a result of the re-establishment of the Futures Committee, as endorsed by the Executive Committee, planning for our future growth and viability has been taking place. We are now ready to take on the New Lynn Memorial RSA redevelopment project and to embark on a project which supports the long term viability of the club. Funds have been set aside and as a result of this positive project, in the next few months you will see change and a resulting new and improved facility.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

This is a positive project and with change all around us in New Lynn we can be proud to be part of a developing town centre! This project is going to transform parts of the club into a more vibrant and newly refurbished environment that better meets the needs of you, our members and our customers. Your feedback and the recommendations of our Committees proposed improvements such as, the proposed relocation of the TAB, a larger and refurbished restaurant, relocation of some services, to improve the gaming area and to make changes to the kitchen and lounge area with more light and colour. It was your feedback that suggested we needed to take into consideration these opportunities for enhancing the New Lynn RSA, the results of feedback and suggestions are implemented in the architectural plans. We encourage you to be part of this project, we have many plans to ensure that you our members and customers have access to communication about the project. We invite you to visit our website for updates (www.newlynnrsa.org.nz), read the project newsletter, you may go into the monthly restaurant prize draw or you may like to read about the project in an email update (join our email list). We believe communicating with you about this project is important; we have listed the contacts for the project on the reverse of this brochure. Thank you for being part of our New Lynn Memorial RSA! You are important to us and we look forward to making these improvements for you.

Ross Hancock President New Lynn Memorial RSA

A redevelopment project to upgrade the New Lynn Memorial RSA is taking place as a result of our future planning. In the past few months we asked members to provide our Futures and Executive Committee for feedback about a redevelopment project. You told us that as our members, you would like to see a project that would result in additional restaurant facilities, making the restaurant larger, for changes to occur to the location of club services and the decor. You asked us to make sure we considered changes to make the club more inviting and interesting for a broad range of members and to consider the needs of families, younger people and new members. The architectural plans we have developed, reflect those suggestions and have been developed to ‘open-out’ the restaurant, to enhance the front and entrance of the building, make internal changes and relocate services. We included in the plans a consideration to making the club both internally and externally more visually appealing with affects such as external pillars and wing like affects to draw attention and portray a welcoming entrance.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING? • The project is proposed to start immediately following the approval from the Special Annual General Meeting in March 2010. • Detailed design plans will be prepared in the following weeks and you the customer can view detailed plans which will be on display in the foyer. • It is anticipated that the physical build may start around mid year as consents and detailed drawings are yet to be completed. • Our goal is to start the project very soon and to keep to a tight timeline. • It is expected that the project will be completed at the end of the year. • We expect to launch the new New Lynn Memorial RSA at the end of the year or early 2011.

THE PLANS A copy of the proposed redevelopment plans will be on display in the main foyer. Please ask the office staff for any further information. For more details about the project you can contact the people listed on the back of this brochure or visit www. newlynnrsa.org.nz or collect a copy of the project newsletter available at the office.

WHERE WE WERE Time has passed and New Lynn is a changing town centre. Recently the town centre has undergone significant changes and is rapidly growing into a busy sub-regional town centre. New Lynn now has an underground trench for the rail, new roading and some new and exciting businesses. The New Lynn Memorial RSA has been waiting for the right time when funds were in hand and changes were underway in the town centre, for our turn to go into redevelopment; this is now the right time. We need to upgrade the property, we need to grow and change with the time. The New Lynn Memorial RSA has always been a significant part of New Lynn and we continue to grow with the town centre, we are leading the way in the West and will be an important part of the new future in the town centre.

THE FUTURE Positive change is ahead of us, a new and exciting town centre is growing around us, our membership is growing and we need that positive growth and development to continue. As a result of this redevelopment the future is looking positive, we want you to be part of our club, we are proud of what we believe is a bright and great future for the New Lynn Memorial RSA.
