SCHOLARSHIP FAQs

Do you offer scholarships? Yes. It is the mission of Girls on the Run of Greater Sacramento to offer our program to all girls who desire to participate, regardless of their financial status. Families who are unable to pay the program registration fees will be awarded financial assistance based on their income. How do I apply for a scholarship? Scholarship applications are available beginning December 21st for the Spring 2015 season. Applications will be available via a link on the Girls on the Run of Greater Sacramento website, www.gotrsac.org. Proof of income is required for all scholarship applications. How long is my scholarship valid? Scholarships are valid for the current season only. All applicants must reapply if they desire financial assistance for another season. If I register my participant, can I then apply for a scholarship and have my registration fee refunded to me? No. It is assumed that if you are able to pay the full amount for your girl to participate in GOTR then you do not need financial assistance in the form of a scholarship. No registration refunds will be given, so you must apply for your scholarship before registering your participant. When are scholarship applications accepted? Spring scholarship applications are available from December 21, 2014-February 16, 2015. While scholarship applications are accepted throughout the dates listed previously, no scholarships will be reviewed from January 25-27, 2015. Can a coach, teacher or other supporter apply on behalf of a GOTR participant? No! We require a parent/guardian signature on the application, so only a parent/guardian may apply for a scholarship.

I do not have the internet, how do I apply for a scholarship? All scholarships require completion of an online application. If you do not have access to a computer and/or internet it is our recommendation that you locate a computer in your area at a venue such as the public library.

My guardian does not speak English, do you have scholarship applications available in other languages? At the present time English is the only language available for our scholarship applications. It is our recommendation that you seek assistance from someone that can translate the application on your behalf. I have received approval on my scholarship application, does that mean my participant is guaranteed enrollment in the Spring 2015 season? No! Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, therefore the code is NOT a guarantee that a spot is automatically reserved for your daughter. You must still complete the online registration process via the link available on www.gotrsac.org. When does registration open and close? Registration opens on January 26th for all teams. Registration closes on February 20th for all participants. No exceptions will be made. If I am eligible for a scholarship, is one guaranteed for my daughter? No. While GOTR of Greater Sacramento aims to provide need-based scholarships for all girls, we may need to cap scholarships in any given season based on our program revenue and support received from outside partners.
