Mark 9:8

Pastor Tim pushed us to hold onto our convictions about Jesus and our faith. How did you answer the question in your notes, “Through all things, I believe that Jesus is_________” 1. What did Jesus’ transfiguration look like (Mark 9:2-3)? How would you have reacted if you were on the mountain with Jesus? 2. Peter, James, and John didn’t expect to see Jesus’ glory when they went up the mountain. How has Jesus revealed his glory to you in unexpected ways? 3. Why were Elijah and Moses present on this mountaintop with Jesus (Mark 9:4)? What was significant about these two great figures from the Jewish faith? 4. Verse 7 is literally the middle of Mark’s gospel. Why is this verse so important? How did this experience authenticate the Gospel that Peter later proclaimed? (See 2 Peter 1:16-18) 5. Go around the group and answer these questions. Explain your answer. • Is Jesus the only way to heaven, or are there other ways? • Is Jesus as divine as God the Father? • Is the Holy Spirit just a force, and not a personal being? • Was Jesus the first being created by God? • Is Jesus fully God AND fully man? • Did Jesus literally and physically rise from the dead? • Is the Bible 100% accurate in all it teaches about Jesus? • Are there other books that are equally authoritative about Jesus that are not in the Bible? • Does the Bible have final authority in how Christians should live? • Is God concerned with my day to day decisions or only big life changing decisions? • Is God only concerned about the “big” sins in life? • Are people by nature good or evil? • Is Hell real or just used as a scare tactic? • Does the smallest sin deserve hell?
