Navitas is seeking to employ a Senior Staff Accountant to join our North American team in Boston, MA. The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for directing, coordinating, and maintaining an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the Company. This individual monitors department procedures and recommends improvements, consults with the senior management team, participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives, and serves as a resource in all aspects of accounting. This individual ensures that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company procedures. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ACCOUNTING            

      

Develops financial statements, closes book accurately and efficiently, and identifies opportunities to improve processes through automation, standardization, etc. Interprets relevant laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance Ensures strong internal control measures by establishing or upgrading control policies Identifies opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve internal processes Estimates and reports tax provisions and deferred tax balances Adheres to compliance requirements in line with organization's tax policies Responds to audit queries and adjustments with supporting documents Files direct and indirect tax returns with the correct set of supporting documents and communicates with relevant tax authorities Provides support to auditors and other relevant stakeholders during audit process Develops and integrates budgets for multiple functional areas Analyzes budgets for patterns and drivers of errors; monitors and communicates budget performance against pre-set targets Breaks down a complex problem into simpler and manageable tasks; asks questions that lead to identification of root causes of the problem; expresses the impact of problems in financial terms; and generates multiple options to solve a problem and systematically identifies the most effective solution Works with diverse stakeholders and builds strong, collaborative relationships. Manages competing agendas and priorities across different functional departments. Champions diversity by ensuring that opportunities are distributed fairly across a global team Builds a team with a diverse set of interests, skills, and knowledge Guides internal customers to better utilize Finance resources Escalates internal customer conflicts to the appropriate stakeholders Prioritizes customer needs based on business impact Other duties are required for this position

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 

Minimum of 3 -5 years of relevant work experience;



Bachelor’s Degree and CPA Designation;



Requires understanding tax implications for transactions that involve multiple entities and different types of organizations (e.g. trusts, partnerships, etc.);



Requires understanding of transfer pricing concepts including supporting documentation requirements;



Demonstrated capacity to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities while remaining calm and controlled;



Demonstrated knowledge of a broad set of accounting principles and techniques, accounts book keeping, financial analysis, and cost accounting;



Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and its applications in accounting, budgeting, and finance;



Prior experience in supporting a commercial function or operations function;



Knowledge of tax related (e.g., local, national, and foreign) audit procedures;



Demonstrated prudent judgment when making important decisions by utilizing knowledge of industry best practices and current trends;



Demonstrated outstanding leadership capabilities, including employee coaching, objective setting, and professional development;



Must have a professional image and be able to form good partner relationships across functions;



Experience in managing an accounting team;



Effectively delegates authority, responsibilities, and tasks;



Excellent organizational and analytical skills;



Excellent written and oral communication skills;



Ability to build a team and provide leadership;



Strong work ethic and integrity;



Valid passport and ability to travel internationally and domestically;



Legal eligibility to work in the U.S.A.

Desirable Skills 

Excellent presentation skills and ability to engage audiences;



Experience in a collaborative team environment;



Should understand the nuances that drives engagement of each employee segment (e.g., Millennials) and enacts plans to keep key talent engaged;



Ability to speak a second language.
