Shimadzu's promise to liquid chromatography: Modular design, versatile components and full automation • LC-4A Liquid Chromatograph Shimadzu's inexpensive ternary gradi ent liquid chromatograph offers micro processor control over all system components, including liquid pump, sample injection and detectors. Opera tional conditions can be programmed and stored in up to 10 separate files, allowing analytical runs to be made automatically with different sets of

operational conditions. Generous selfdiagnostics are complemented by safety devices to protect against ab normal temperature, leaks and pres sure. When linked with Chromatopac C-R2A which can offer true 2 channel operation, control may be made by user-defined BASIC programming.

• LC-5A Microbore Column Liquid Chromatograph A world-first to help you to reduce solvent consumption up to 95% and reach theoretical plate numbers higher than 200,000. The pump capacity of the Shimadzu LC-5A Microbore Column Liquid Chromato graph can be varied from 1 to 9900μΙ a minute, while the total system dead volume is only 2μΙ.

A SPD-M1A Photo-Diode Array Spectrophotometry Detector for LC Designed for simultaneous quantitative and qualitative analyses, the Shimadzu SPD-M1A Photo-Diode Array Spectrophotometric Detector is a new type of detector offering the advantage of three-dimensional spectro-chromatograms, easily identifiable peaks, spec trum memory on-flow and single and double wavelength range chromatograms. The photo-diode array sensor covers the full UV and VIS spectrum range.

• P.F-530 Fluorescence Spectromonitor for HPLC Shimadzu's RF-530 Fluorescence Spectromonitor with xenon lamp and concave holographic gratings offers a wide range of excitation and emission wavelengths. The corrected excitation energy and sensitivity to give a detec tion limit for quinine sulphate is 0.45pg/ 12μΙ. An off-plane optical system and aberration-corrected concave holo graphic gratings decrease noise. All connections are made with standard 1/16" C D . tubing for connectionjo all HPLC systems. • SPD-2A UV Spectrophotometric Detector Series for HPLC Shimadzu's SPD-2A is equipped with a high-performance grating monochro-. mator having a wavelength range from 195 to 350nm. To ensure high stability, the SPD-2A has a double beam optical system which cancels drifts caused by fluctuation in the intensity of the light source. Available with 8μΙ flow cell and 0.5u\ micro flow cell.
