St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church Job Description Position Title: Lay Ministry Coordinator Reports To: The Office Manage and is accountable to the Rector. Summary:` The Lay ministry coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering an effective and comprehensive lay ministry process. Duties and Responsibilities 1. New member assimilation. The Lay Ministry Coordinator will work closely with the Rector and the Connectors to see that newcomers are welcomed to the church and given the opportunity to assume full membership into the church. Provide new members with materials that promote and describe the various ministries of the church, follow up with new members while allowing them the opportunity to discover church membership at their own pace. The Coordinator will develop and implement a new member assimilation process. The Coordinator will be available3 to all new and existing members, offering direction and developing systems which support and engage people in spiritual growth through the use of their God-given gifts, talents and passions. This will include one-on-one counseling and group activities using St. Cuthbert 301 Class gift assessment tools. 2. The Coordinator will recruit, coach and train ministry leaders. Provide direction and support to ministry leaders in ways to manage and minister to their own ministry teams, including assimilating new volunteers. Provide administrative suy0port as needed, coordinating ministry events on the church calendar and training ministry leaders on the policies of the church. The lay Ministry Coordinator is responsible for communicating the vision of the Rector and mission of the church to its ministry leaders. 3. Develop administrative support systems and printed materials to encourage and education participation in ministry service. To work closely with the Church Communications Team to provide information on the Lay Ministry process including new member assimilation and ministry leader development and training. The Coordinator will teach ministry leaders how to effectively promote and coordinate their events to the congregation. 4. Participate in weekly staff meeting and vestry meetings as required. The Coordinator will keep office hours that are flexible to accommodate the lay ministry volunteers, and other ministry leaders to include attendance at all Sunday morning worship services, newcomer’s events and leadership meetings. 5. Maintain a Christian standard of conduct in all aspects of the job, including upholding confidentiality in all areas of work, activities and information of the church office. Supervision: The Lay Ministry Coordinator is supervised by the Church Office Manager, and is accountable to the Rector, and responsible to communicate the vision of the Rector to the congregation. Skill and Abilities: College degree required with experience in volunteer coordination and/or other ministry experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an outgoing personality and ability to motivate and work with groups of people as well as individuals, and extensive computer experience are required. ___________________________________________________________________
