SUNDAY MORNING CLASSES FOR ADULTS Formation of the Canon. After almost 2000 years of church history, how can Christians be sure that we have exactly the right books in the Bible – no more and no less? As our standard of faith and practice, can we confidently appeal to the canon of the Bible as a collection of authoritative writings to which nothing can be added and from which nothing can be taken away? Join us for this class as we discuss how the books of the Bible were chosen. Taught by Travis Bauer in Room 214 at 9:30 and repeated at 10:45 on Sundays from Sept. 10 through Oct. 1. The Case for Faith. The Sunday School class CrossCurrents is studying this book by Lee Strobel. This class is a discussion of the toughest objections to Christianity. Led by Greg Chalmers and Margi Zoucha on Sundays in Room 218 at 10:45. COMING SOON Martin Luther: The Idea that Changed the World. The Sunday School class Monday Morning Missions, led by Gary Oppedahl and Marlin Johnson, is studying this video series on Martin Luther. Martin Luther sparked the Protestant Reformation that changed Western culture. The Reformation ignited the drive toward individualism, freedom of religion, women's rights, separation of church and state, and even free public education.

Without it, there would have been no America in the way we know it. Sundays, Oct. 8-29, in Room 221 (the Study) at 9:30. The Lord's Prayer is the third most popular prayer among Christians, yet, there is an amazing lack of clarity as to what one seeks in this prayer. For ex., what happens when God’s name is hallowed? What kind of daily bread? Is it debts or trespasses? And why pray that God not lead us into temptation? Isn’t that Satan’s job? And why does praying this prayer not only transform the one praying but also give hope to the neighborhood? Rev. Dewey Johnson will teach a 6-week course from his book, The Lord’s Prayer: Hope for the Neighborhood, in Room 214 at 9:30 and repeated at 10:45 on Sundays from Oct. 15 through Nov. 19. The Tech-Wise Family. This class is a discussion of biblical values to guide good choices about how kids, parents, and grandparents use technology at home. Taught by Rev. Matt Pooley in Room 219 at 9:30 on Sundays from Oct. 15 through Nov. 19.
