“Lesson 3: The Creation,” Primary 6: Old Testament, (1996),9

To increase your appreciation for the earth that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ created for us. “Lesson 3: The Creation,” Primary 6: Old Testament, (1996),9

I need someone to shake out what I have in this bag onto the table. Try to dump the pieces onto the table so that all of the pieces fall into place to form a complete picture. A puzzle cannot fall into place by chance—it requires an intelligent being to organize the pieces and carefully put them together.

The earth has to be the right distance from the sun or everything on it would burn or freeze. Without the right amount of oxygen, humans and animals could not breathe. If there was too little gravity, we would float off the earth.

A loving Heavenly Father directed Jesus Christ to organize this beautiful earth for us.

I’m going to give each of you a scripture to look up for each of the seven periods of the creation. Read your scripture to yourself and illustrate a picture of what was created on that day without telling anyone what it is. You have five minutes to read and illustrate. Enrichment Activity 1

When you are done, your classmates will guess what you drew. Read the part of your scripture your drawing is of. Your classmates will follow along in their scriptures. Let’s tape them up on the wall in order! Enrichment Activity 1

What do you remember about the “days” of the creation?

Enrichment Activity 3

The word create means to organize, not to make something from nothing.

“Now, the word create came from the word baurau, which does not mean to create out of nothing; it means to organize; the same as a man would organize materials and build a ship” (History of the Church, 6:308).

Enrichment Activity 3

It’s salt How many particles of salt you think there are in the container? I need a volunteer to take a pinch of salt and try to count how many particles there are.

Enrichment Activity 4

God has created many more worlds than there are particles of salt in the container or even on the whole earth. Many of these worlds have been inhabited or will be inhabited by people who have been created in the image of God, just as we have, yet Heavenly Father knows and loves us all. Let’s read Moses 7:29–30 Enrichment Activity 4

1. Whenever I hear the song of a bird Or look at the blue, blue sky, Whenever I feel the rain on my face Or the wind as it rushes by, Whenever I touch a velvet rose Or walk by our lilac tree, I’m glad that I live in this beautiful world Heav’nly Father created for me.

2. He gave me my eyes that I might see The color of butterfly wings. He gave me my ears that I might hear The magical sound of things. He gave me my life, my mind, my heart: I thank him rev’rently For all his creations, of which I’m a part. Yes, I know Heav’nly Father loves me. Words and music: Clara W. Enrichment Activity 7

I’ll give you some clues and you try to guess what it was. Enrichment Activity 2

You each get to take a turn giving clues about something you saw that reminds you of the love Heavenly Father and Jesus have for us. The first article of faith and the evidence we see in nature can strengthen our testimonies of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Enrichment Activity 2

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. Enrichment Activity 2

Each of us is one of Heavenly Father’s greatest creations. I am grateful to be your teacher and to have each of you as a member of this class.

When I look around at the beautiful earth we have to live in, I have no doubt that it was created for us by Jesus Christ under the direction of our loving Heavenly Father. It helps me feel close to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ when I see and think about His beautiful creations.

It was time to make the earth. Heavenly Father Chose Jesus Christ to make it.

He told Jesus how to make it. Jesus made the earth in six days.

The days were much longer than our days. The first day Jesus made the light. He called it day. He made the dark. He called it night.

The second day Jesus divided the water. Some water was on earth. Some water was in the clouds in the sky.

The third day Jesus made dry land. He made the grass and the trees grow. He made all the plants grow.

The fourth day Jesus made the sun. He made the moon and the stars.

The fifth day Jesus put fish in the water.

He also made the birds.

The sixth day Jesus made all the other animals. He made cows and horses and dogs.

He made deer and lions and tigers

God and Jesus made a man. He was the first man on earth. His name was Adam. Adam Looked like God and Jesus. Adam lived in a beautiful garden. It was called the Garden of Eden.

Adam was alone in the garden. So God and Jesus made a woman. Her name was Eve.

She was Adam’s wife.

God and Jesus told Adam and Eve to take care of the garden.

They told them to have children.

God and Jesus looked at all they had made. It was good. On the seventh day they rested.
