Call to Order/Introductions Monica Alonzo called the regular meeting of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee to order at 7:48 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015. The meeting was held in the Dallas CVB President’s Conference Room. Introductions were made around the room.

II. Approval of October 15, 2015 Minutes The minutes of the October 15, 2015 meeting were reviewed and unanimously APPROVED. Gal Juamaos noted that “Student Engagement/Involvement” was not added to today’s agenda as stated in the minutes. Cheryl Richards made note and will include it in the March 3rd meeting agenda. III. DCVB Overview Presentation Matt Jones presented a PowerPoint discussing with the committee the fundamentals of what is a CVB, what the CVB does, and the how the CVB does it. Mr. Jones explained the bureau’s mission statement, strategic vision, strategic intent and strategic guidelines. Mr. Jones discussed how the bureau evaluates and prioritizes what it does based on resources/financial, audience/visibility, influence, impact of stakeholders, meeting/event specific, risk assessment and timing. He showed the committee a breakdown of the FY2016 budget and explained how the Public Improvement District was created and how the money is used. Mr. Jones said that goal development is a key in achieving success and that is why the bureau has created short and long term goals. Upon completion of his presentation, Rick Ortiz invited Matt Jones to share his presentation with the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber board.

IV. Diversity and Inclusion Report Cheryl Richards reported the Diversity and Inclusion department has been in place for three years and summarized the strategic framework with the committee. Ms. Richards asked committee members to review the framework and objectives and provide her with feedback by December 18 as she works on setting future D/I goals. Ms. Richards asked committee members to assist her in connecting with corporations and businesses that may be interested in partnering or hosting a meeting in Dallas. She shared with the committee a list of upcoming diverse definite groups that will be coming to Dallas in 2016 and 2017 and tentative groups considering Dallas through 2019. Tony Vedda inquired about starting a dialogue with the Dallas Sports Commission regarding LGBT Certified Supplier Diversity for their larger upcoming sporting events. Ms. Richards presented two upcoming opportunities:  Women’s Big Influencer on May 24, 2016 – $50,000 sponsor  Soledad O’Brien’s “I am Latino in America Tour” on April 26, 2016 - $25,000 sponsor Maria Espinosa and Cheryl Richards asked the committee for their feedback in updating the current Supplier Diversity questionnaire that is given to current Dallas CVB membership. The committee agreed that the questionnaire should encourage certification and Ildemaro Gonzalez agreed to review the document and provide Ms. Richards with feedback. V. Calendar Update Monica Alonzo directed the committee members to refer to their meeting packets for upcoming meeting dates and asked them to take the time to review the purpose and objective of the committee, and a summary of the standing committees. There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 9:46 a.m.
